The 2020 African Wrestling Championships was held in Algiers, Algeria from 8 to 9 February 2020. [1]
Competitions were held in three age groups: cadets, juniors, and seniors according to United World Wrestling rules.

The Africa Cup of Nations referred to as AFCON, and sometimes as African Cup of Nations, is the main international men's association football competition in Africa. It is sanctioned by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and was first held in 1957. Since 1968, it has been held every two years, switching to odd-numbered years in 2013.
The Confederation of African Football or CAF is the administrative and controlling body for African association football.
The Morocco national football team, nicknamed "the Atlas Lions", represents Morocco in men's international football competitions. It is controlled by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, also known as FRMF. The team's colours are red and green. The team is a member of both FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Aminat Oluwafunmilayo Adeniyi is a Nigerian freestyle wrestler. She competed in the women's freestyle 58 kg event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where she won a gold medal.
Algeria competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place in the summer of 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the nation's debut in 1964, Algerian athletes have appeared in every edition of the Summer Olympic Games, with the exception of the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal because of the African boycott. Unlike Algeria's previous successes in the Summer Olympics, it has failed to secure its single medal as a result of their poor, athletic performance.
Abdelkrim Ouakali is an Algerian Greco-Roman wrestler. He was the winner of the 2019 African Games Greco-Roman 77 kg category.
Blessing Joy Onyebuchi is a Nigerian freestyle wrestler.
Ebikewenimo Welson is a Nigerian freestyle wrestler. He is a three-time medalist at the Commonwealth Games and a two-time medalist at the African Games.
Anta Sambou is a Senegalese freestyle wrestler. She is a two-time medalist at the African Games. She won the gold medal in her event at the 2022 African Wrestling Championships held in El Jadida, Morocco.
Abdelhak Kherbache is an Algerian freestyle wrestler. At the African Wrestling Championships, he won a total of seven medals: three gold, three silver, and one bronze. He is also a two-time medalist, including gold, at the African Games. He competed in the men's 57 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan.
Bachir Sid Azara is an Algerian Greco-Roman wrestler. At the African Wrestling Championships he won a total of seven medals: four gold medals and three silver medals in six consecutive years.
Fateh Benferdjallah is an Algerian freestyle wrestler. He represented Algeria at the 2019 African Games held in Rabat, Morocco and he won the silver medal in the men's freestyle 86 kg event. In the final, he lost against Ayoub Barraj of Tunisia.
Siwar Bousetta is a Tunisian freestyle wrestler. She is a bronze medalist at the African Games and a two-time medalist at the African Wrestling Championships.
Abdelkarim Fergat is an Algerian Greco-Roman wrestler. He is a four-time gold medalist in his event at the African Wrestling Championships. He also competed at the World Wrestling Championships both in 2018 and in 2019.
Sarra Hamdi is a Tunisian freestyle wrestler. She is a silver medalist at the African Games and a five-time medalist, including gold, at the African Wrestling Championships. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in the women's 50 kg event.
Mohamed Ibrahim El-Sayed is an Egyptian Greco-Roman wrestler. He won one of the bronze medals in the 67 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. In 2019, he represented Egypt at the 2019 African Games held in Rabat, Morocco and won the gold medal in the men's Greco-Roman 67 kg event. He is a two-time U23 World Champion.
Mohammed Fardj is an Algerian freestyle wrestler. He is a bronze medalist at the African Games and a three-time medalist, including two gold medals, at the African Wrestling Championships.
Ekerekeme Agiomor is a Nigerian freestyle wrestler. He is a four-time medalist at the African Wrestling Championships.
Zaineb Sghaier is a Tunisian freestyle wrestler. She is a two-time medalist, including gold, at the African Wrestling Championships. She also represented Tunisia at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Amr Reda Ramadan Hussen is an Egyptian freestyle wrestler. He is a bronze medalist at the 2019 African Games and a three-time medalist, including gold, at the African Wrestling Championships.
