The 2020 Georgetown Hoyas men's soccer team represented the Georgetown University during the 2020 NCAA Division I men's soccer season and the 2020 Big East Conference men's soccer season. The regular season began on February 16, 2021 and is set to conclude on April 10. [1] It was the program's 69th season fielding a men's varsity soccer team, and their 25th season in the Big East Conference. The 2020 season was Brian Wiese's 14th year as head coach for the program. Effects of the Covid-19 pandemic

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Big East postponed the fall sports, with the hope of playing in the spring. [3] [4]

On November 4, 2020, the NCAA approved a plan for college soccer to be played in the spring. [5] The Big East announced their plans for the spring season in January 2021. [6]

The Big East Conference was a collegiate athletics conference that consisted of as many as 16 universities in the eastern half of the United States from 1979 to 2013. The conference's members participated in 24 NCAA sports. The conference had a history of success at the national level in basketball throughout its history, while its shorter football program, created by inviting one college and four other "associate members" into the conference, resulted in two national championships.

Georgetown, the Big East regular season winner, received the number one seed in the tournament.

The 2008–09 Big East Conference men's basketball season was the 30th in conference history, and involved its 16 full-time member schools. Leading up to, during, and following the season, it has been widely regarded as one of the most successful seasons in Big East Conference history, fielding multiple teams that received national recognition and achieved high levels of success.

Pending developments with the COVID-19 pandemic, the first four rounds of the competition were scheduled to be held at the home ground of the higher seed, while the College Cup was to be held at Harder Stadium in Santa Barbara, California. The championship match was originally scheduled to take place on December 13, 2020.

The 2020–21 DePaul Blue Demons men's basketball team represented DePaul University during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by sixth-year head coach Dave Leitao and played their home games at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois as members of the Big East Conference. In a season limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Demons finished the season 5–14, 2–13 in Big East play to finish in last place. They defeated Providence in the first round of the Big East tournament before losing to UConn in the quarterfinals.

The 2020 Big East Conference men's soccer season will be the eighth season for the realigned Big East Conference. Including the history of the original Big East Conference, this will be the 25th season of men's soccer under the "Big East Conference" name.

The 2021–22 Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team represented Georgetown University in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Hoyas, led by fifth-year head coach Patrick Ewing, were members of the Big East Conference. The Hoyas played their home games at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

The 2020 Big East men's soccer tournament was the 8th edition of the Big East Conference Men's Soccer Tournament. The tournament decided the Big East Conference champion and guaranteed representative into the 2020 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament.

The 2021–22 UConn Huskies men's basketball team represented the University of Connecticut in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Huskies are led by fourth-year head coach Dan Hurley in the team's second season since their return to the Big East Conference. The Huskies played their home games at the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Connecticut and the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. They finished the season 23–10, 13–6 in Big East play to finish in third place. They defeated Seton Hall in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals of the Big East tournament where they lost to Villanova. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 5 seed in the West Region, where they were upset in the First Round by New Mexico State.

The 2021–22 Providence Friars men's basketball team represented Providence College during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by 11th-year head coach Ed Cooley, and played their home games at Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island as a member of the Big East Conference. They finished the season 27–6, 14–3 in Big East play to win the school's first regular season championship. The Friars defeated Butler in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament before losing to Creighton in the semifinals. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 4 seed in the Midwest region. They defeated South Dakota State and Richmond to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. There they lost to No. 1 seed and eventual national champion Kansas.

The five-match tournament took place at Shaw Field in Washington, D.C. for the semifinals and finals, while the first round was hosted by the higher seeded team. The six-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The defending champions were the Seton Hall Pirates. They were unable to defendtheir title after not qualifying for the tournament and finishing in last place in the regular season standings. Georgetown finished as tournament champions after defeating Providence 2–1 in overtime in the final. This is the fifth title in program history for Georgetown, all of which have come under Head Coach Brian Wiese. As tournament champions, Georgetown earned the Big East's automatic place in the 2021 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament.

The 2023 Big East Conference men's soccer tournament was the post-season women's soccer tournament for the Big East Conference held from November 4 to 12, 2023. The eight-match tournament took place at Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Maryland for the semifinals and finals, while the first round was hosted by the higher seeded team. The eight-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The defending champions were the Creighton Bluejays. They were unable to defend their title, losing as the sixth seed in the first round to Providence. Xavier finished as tournament champions after defeating Georgetown in a penalty shoot-out in the Final. This was the first Big East title in program history for Xavier, and the first for head coach John Higgins. As tournament champions, Xavier earned the Big East's automatic place in the 2023 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament.
