She has a career-high singles ranking of world No. 22, achieved on 4 April 2022, and a best WTA doubles ranking of No. 2, reached on 6 June 2022. She also has reached a Grand Slam final, at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships in women's doubles, partnering with Elena Vesnina.

This also marked the second year in a row where a player won the tournament without having won a WTA singles title prior.
The 2020 J&T Banka Ostrava Open is a WTA tournament organised for female professional tennis players, held in Ostrava, Czech Republic, in mid-October 2020 on indoor hard courts. It was primarily organised due to the cancellation of many tournaments during the 2020 season, because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Tímea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic were the defending champions and successfully defended their title, defeating Alexa Guarachi and Desirae Krawczyk in the final, 6–4, 7–5.
Coco Gauff was the defending champion, but chose not to participate this year.
Hsieh Su-wei and Barbora Strýcová were the two-time defending champions, but they chose not to participate.
Aryna Sabalenka defeated Ashleigh Barty in the final, 6–0, 3–6, 6–4, to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2021 Madrid Open. It was Sabalenka's 10th career WTA Tour singles title and her first title on clay.
Iga Świątek defeated Karolína Plíšková in the final, 6–0, 6–0, to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2021 Italian Open. It was Świątek's first WTA 1000 singles title, and the 13 points Świątek lost in the championship match is the fewest on record in a WTA 1000 final; Serena Williams previously held the record, from the 2015 Miami Open final. This was the first WTA singles final to be resolved with a 'double bagel' scoreline since Simona Halep defeated Anastasija Sevastova at the 2016 Bucharest Open, and was just the tenth such final in WTA history. With the win, Świątek broke into the top 10 of the WTA rankings for the first time.
This was the first edition of the tournament.
Samantha Stosur and Zhang Shuai defeated Coco Gauff and Caty McNally in the final, 6–3, 3–6, 6–3 to win the women's doubles title at the 2021 US Open. This was Stosur's fourth major title in women's doubles and eighth major overall, as well as Zhang's second major title; this was the pair's second major title, after their victory at the 2019 Australian Open. This was the first major final that either Gauff or McNally participated in.
Paula Badosa defeated Victoria Azarenka in the final, 7–6(7–5), 2–6, 7–6(7–2), to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2021 Indian Wells Masters. At three hours and four minutes, the final was the longest women's final contested at Indian Wells. By winning the title, Badosa became the first Spanish woman to win the tournament. This was her first WTA 1000 title and her second career WTA singles title overall. Azarenka was aiming to become the first woman to win the title at Indian Wells three times.
Ashleigh Barty defeated Danielle Collins in the final, 6–3, 7–6(7–2) to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 Australian Open. Barty became the eighth woman in the Open Era to win the French Open (2019), Wimbledon (2021), and Australian Open. The final marked Barty's last professional appearance, as she announced her retirement from the sport in March.

Świątek also became the youngest winner of multiple majors since Maria Sharapova in 2006.

It was Świątek's first Miami Open title, her third consecutive WTA 1000 title, and her fourth WTA 1000-level title overall. Świątek became the first woman in history to win the first three WTA 1000 titles of the year in succession, the first player since Serena Williams in 2013 to win three consecutive WTA 1000 titles, and extended her win streak to 17 matches. She lost no sets and just 26 games en route to the title, the fewest since Martina Hingis dropped 21 games in 2000.
