The Tigers finished the 2019 season 35–25 overall, and 12–12 in the SEC to finish in a tie for sixth in the conference. The Tigers went 3–2 in the Los Angeles Regional during the 2019 NCAA Division I softball tournament.

The team was led by head coach Gary Pinkel, in his 13th year and played its home games at Faurot Field in Columbia, Missouri. The Tigers went into the season hoping to return to a bowl game after missing out the previous season. They succeeded after an 11–1 regular season and their first-ever SEC Eastern Division title. After a loss to Auburn in the SEC Championship Game they played in the 2014 Cotton Bowl Classic on January 3, 2014 against Oklahoma State, which they won 41–31. The two teams had last met on October 22, 2011.

The Tigers were led by fourth-year head coach Barry Odom in his final season with the team.

The 2019–20 Missouri Tigers men's basketball team represented the University of Missouri in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season and was led by head coach Cuonzo Martin, who was in his third year at Missouri. The team played its home games at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Missouri as eighth-year members of the Southeastern Conference. They finished the season 15–16, 7–11 in SEC play to finish in a tie for tenth place. They were set to take on Texas A&M in the second round of the SEC tournament.
