World No. 139 Clara Tauson won her first WTA singles tennis title as a qualifier, defeating Viktorija Golubic in the final of the 2021 Lyon Open, 6–4, 6–1. Tauson did not drop a set throughout the entire tournament, including qualifying rounds, and dropped just 35 games across seven matches. Tauson became the second Danish player in history, after Caroline Wozniacki, to win a WTA Tour singles title. The final match was the first WTA singles final to be contested between two qualifiers since the 2017 Japan Women's Open.

Daria Kasatkina won the women's singles title at the 2021 St. Petersburg Ladies' Trophy, after Margarita Gasparyan retired from the final with the scoreline at 6–3, 2–1.

The 2021 L'Open 35 de Saint-Malo was a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the twenty-sixth edition of the tournament and its first as part of the 2021 edition of the WTA 125K series. It took place in Saint-Malo, France between 3 and 9 May 2021.

Viktoriya Tomova was the defending champion, having won the previous edition in 2019, however she chose to compete in Budapest instead.

This was the first edition of the tournament.

Simona Halep defeated Veronika Kudermetova in the final, 6–2, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 Melbourne Summer Set 1. It was Halep's 23rd WTA Tour-level singles title, and her first in Australia.

Petra Kvitová defeated Elena Rybakina in the final, 7–6(16–14), 6–2 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 Miami Open. It was Kvitová's first WTA 1000 title since the 2018 Madrid Open, and her 30th career title overall; she also became the first Czech player to win the title. Rybakina was attempting to complete the Sunshine Double, having already won the title at Indian Wells.
