The No. 47-ranked, 32-year-old Čilić also became the lowest-ranked winner since Juan Carlos Ferrero in 2011 and the third-oldest champion in tournament history. Defending finalist Auger-Aliassime was contesting for his first career singles title in his eighth final.

Daniil Medvedev defeated Reilly Opelka in the final, 6–4, 6–3 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2021 Canadian Open. It was his fourth ATP Masters 1000 title and 12th career title. Opelka was contesting his maiden Masters 1000 final.

João Sousa defeated Emil Ruusuvuori in the final, 7–6(11–9), 4–6, 6–1 to win the singles title at the 2022 Tata Open Maharashtra. Sousa saved three match points against Elias Ymer in the semifinals. This was his first title since 2018.

Novak Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final, 6–0, 7–6(7–5) to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2022 Italian Open. It was his sixth Italian Open title and record-extending 38th Masters 1000 title overall. Djokovic did not lose a set during the tournament, and won his 1000th ATP Tour-level career match against Casper Ruud in the semifinals.

Cameron Norrie defeated Alex Molčan in the final, 6–3, 6–7(3–7), 6–1 to win the singles tennis title at the 2022 ATP Lyon Open. Norrie became the first Briton to win a clay court title on the ATP Tour since 2016.

Borna Ćorić defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final, 7–6(7–0), 6–2 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2022 Cincinnati Masters. It was his first Masters 1000 title, and his first title overall since 2018, in Halle. Ranked No. 152 in the world and using a protected ranking for entry, Ćorić became the lowest ranked player to win a Masters 1000 event since its inception in 1990. He defeated five seeded players en route to the title.
