Monmouth University is a private university in West Long Branch, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Founded in 1933 as Monmouth Junior College, it became Monmouth College in 1956 and Monmouth University in 1995 after receiving its charter. It enrolls about 4,400 full-time and 260 part-time undergraduate and 1,750 graduate students and employs 302 full-time faculty members.
Kessler Stadium is a 4,200-seat football and track stadium in West Long Branch, New Jersey. It was built in 1993 and is home to the Monmouth University Hawks. Kessler Stadium underwent a renovation prior to the start of the 2017 football season that saw the seating capacity expand to more than 4,200 seats, including 800+ chair backs. A new brick facade complements the design of the OceanFirst Bank Center and the seating stretches end zone to end zone. Kessler Stadium is home to a press box and multimedia center on the third fourth, a main concourse at ground level which is home to the Brockriede Family Concessions and the Austin Family Box Office. On the second floor, the Doherty Family Deck hosts Monmouth Athletics Blue-White Club events.
Kevin Callahan is an American college football coach who is the head football coach at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey. Callahan was the first, and is still through 2023 the only, head coach in history of the Monmouth Hawks football program. He was hired by Monmouth in August 1992. The team's first season was in 1993 and Callahan led them to a 2–5 record.
The Monmouth Hawks football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the Monmouth University located in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The Monmouth Hawks men's lacrosse team represents Monmouth University in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's lacrosse. Monmouth currently competes as a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and plays its home games at Kessler Stadium in West Long Branch, New Jersey. Monmouth made its first NCAA tournament appearance in 2017 and returned to the tournament in 2021.
The 2017 Presbyterian Blue Hose football team represented Presbyterian College in the 2017 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by first-year head coach Tommy Spangler, who was in his second stint as PC head coach, as he coached the Blue Hose from 2001–06. The Blue Hose played their home games at Bailey Memorial Stadium and as a member of the Big South Conference. They finished the season 4–7, 1–4 in Big South play to finish in fifth place.

They were led by 25th-year head coach Kevin Callahan and played their home games at Kessler Field in West Long Branch, New Jersey. Monmouth finished the season 9–3 overall a nd 4–1 in Big South play to place in second. The Hawks received an at-large bid to the FCS Playoffs marking the school's first playoff berth. There they lost to Northern Iowa in the first round.

The 2019 Monmouth Hawks football team represented Monmouth University in the 2019 NCAA Division I FCS football season as a member of the Big South Conference. They were led by 27th-year head coach Kevin Callahan and played their home games at Kessler Field in West Long Branch, New Jersey. Monmouth finished the season 11–3 overall and 6–0 in Big South play to win the conference title. The Hawks received the Big South's automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs. They defeated Holy Cross in the first round before losing to James Madison in the second round.
