The 2022 Munster Senior Hurling Championship was the 2022 installment of the annual Munster Senior Hurling Championship organised by Munster GAA. [2] Limerick entered the competition as defending champions and won their 4th Munster Championship title in succession. [3]

Cian Lynch is an Irish hurler who plays as a center forward for Limerick Championship club Patrickswell, where he has held the role of captain, and the Limerick senior team. Recognised for his exceptional skill level but remaining the ultimate team player, he is widely considered one of the best players in the current game and has often been described as a "midfield magician".
John Kiely is an Irish hurling manager and former selector, Gaelic footballer and hurler. He has been manager of the Limerick senior hurling team since 2016.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games, the competition was delayed before beginning on 24 October 2020 and ending on 13 December 2020.
