The 2022 Norwegian First Division is the 38th season of the Norwegian First Division, the second-tier Norwegian women's football division, and the 21st season under the current format. The league consists of 10 teams. The season started on 19 March 2022. [1]
This season is the first with a new play-off system. It was set to be introduced in the 2020 season, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [2] [3]

The regular season consists of 10 teams, who will play each other twice, totalling 18 matches per team. The top two teams qualify for the Toppserien play-offs. The other eight teams qualify for the First Division play-offs. [3]

The teams from 3rd to 10th position take part in the First Division play-offs. They carry over their points and goal difference from the regular season. Each team plays seven matches, once against each of the other teams. The winners qualify for the promotion play-offs, where they will face the 6th placed team in the Toppserien relegation round. The bottom two teams are relegated. [3]

The 2005 season was the 100th season of competitive football in Norway.
The 2004 season of the Toppserien, the highest women's football (soccer) league in Norway, began on 17 April 2004 and ended on 30 October 2004.
The 2009 Toppserien was the twenty-third season of top-tier women's football in Norway since its establishment in 1987. A total of twelve teams contested the league, consisting of ten who competed in the previous season and two promoted from the 1. divisjon. Running from 13 April to 31 October 2009, it was won by Røa for the third consecutive year. As winners, Røa qualified for the Round of 32 of the 2010–11 UEFA Women's Champions League as the sole representative from Norway. Because Norway had dropped to ninth place in the UEFA coefficient rankings for 2010–11, the runners-up in the Toppserien could no longer enter the Qualifying Round of the Champions League, as had been the case in the previous season.
