Previous season

The Commodores finished 49–18, 19–10 in the SEC to finish in second place in the East division. They hosted the 2021 Nashville Regional and finished 3–0. The Commodores then hosted East Carolina in the Nashville Super Regional, winning the first two games to advance to the College World Series. The Commodores advanced to the Championship Series of the CWS, finishing as Runner-up to Mississippi State.

The Commodores compiled a 40–15 regular season record, going 18–12 in the SEC and finishing ranked #10 in the nation. The Commodores earned a #6 seed in the 2016 Southeastern Conference tournament, where they went 2–2 and were eliminated by Texas A&M, the eventual champions. Following the SEC tournament, the Commodores hosted a regional in the NCAA Division I baseball tournament, part of the Louisville super regional. The season was marred by the death of freshman pitcher Donny Everett, who drowned the day before Vanderbilt was to take on Xavier University in their first regional game. Vanderbilt went 0–2 in the Nashville regional to end the season, falling to Xavier and Washington.

The team earned a final record of 5–7 in a season notable for wins against Kansas State, then in the top 20, and Tennessee, but also for sizeable losses against SEC opponents Alabama, Georgia, and Missouri. The Tennessee win at Neyland Stadium was the Commodores' fourth in six games, a feat unequaled by VU in that rivalry since 1926.

The 2022 Ole Miss Rebels baseball team represented the University of Mississippi in the 2022 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Rebels played their home games at Swayze Field. In 2022, the Rebels went from the last team into the field of 64 NCAA tournament to the National Champions. The Rebels began their post-season with a loss in the SEC Tournament to Vanderbilt before they got hot. As the 3 seed in the Miami regional, the Rebels demolished the field, defeating Arizona, the host team Miami, and Arizona again to head to a Super Regional. In the Super Regionals, the Rebels traveled to Hattiesburg, MS where Southern Mississippi played host. In front of record crowds, Ole Miss outscored Southern Miss 15-0 in a two-game routing to head to Omaha for the first time since 2014. In Omaha, the Rebels remained hot, taking down Auburn and SEC foe Arkansas, before losing its first postseason game to Arkansas in a potential elimination game for the Razorbacks. In game three of the series against Arkansas, Rebel pitcher Dylan DeLucia threw a complete-game shutout to push the Rebels to their first College World Series championship game in program history. The Rebels ran through Oklahoma in two games to win the 2022 College World Series and complete their last-to-first run. The team was featured in the 2022 documentary, Belief: The Season Ole Miss Baseball.

The 2022–23 Vanderbilt Commodores men's basketball team represents Vanderbilt University during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team is led by fourth-year head coach Jerry Stackhouse, and plays their home games at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, Tennessee as a member of the Southeastern Conference. They finished the season 18–13, 11–7 in SEC Play, in a three-way tie for 4th place. They defeated LSU and Kentucky to advance to the semifinals of the SEC tournament, where they were defeated by Texas A&M. They received an at-large bid to the National Invitation Tournament where they defeated Yale and Michigan to advance to the quarterfinals where they lost to UAB.

The 2022 Southeastern Conference baseball season was the baseball season for the Southeastern Conference as part of the 2022 NCAA Division I baseball season. Tennessee and Texas A&M won the East and West Division regular season titles respectively. In the conference tournament, Tennessee defeated Florida 8–5 in the final to be crowned SEC champions.
