The AS Douanes men's basketball team played the 2023 season in the Nationale 1 (NM1) and the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Having won the previous national championship, the Douanes returned to the BAL after one-year of absence. They signed Terrell Stoglin and Chris Crawford for the season as American import players. [1] On 27 September 2023, AS Douanes won its record-setting 11th national championship, thus overtaking ASFA as the Senegalese club with the most NM1 titles. [2]
In the BAL, the Douanes finished second in the Sahara Conference after they won three straight games to make up for a 0–2 start. [3] In the playoffs they became the first Senegalese team to reach the finals, when they defeated Petro de Luanda in the semifinal. [4] They lost in the final to Al Ahly. Pabi Guèye won the BAL Coach of the Year Award. [5]
On 7 May, AS Douanes also won their 5th Saint Michel Cup. [6]

Terrell DeVon Stoglin is an American professional basketball player. He served as the starting shooting guard for the University of Maryland, where he played college basketball for two seasons.
The Nationale 1 Masculin is the highest professional basketball league in Senegal. Established in 1971, the league consists of 16 teams.
Marcus Christopher Crawford is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for US Monastir of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). He played college basketball for the University of Memphis. Crawford has an extensive career with teams in Europe and Africa. He guided AS Douanes to the 2023 BAL Final, and was named to the All-BAL First Team the same year.

The 2021 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 1, was the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Established as a joint effort between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and FIBA, the BAL is the highest tier continental league of Africa, replacing the FIBA Africa Basketball League. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the BAL held its inaugural season one year later as planned, with the season beginning in 2021. Initially the league planned to play in six venues in six countries; however, due to the pandemic the season was held in a bio-secure bubble in Kigali, Rwanda.
