Jakarta Film Week chronology

The 2023 Jakarta Film Week, the third edition of the film festival Jakarta Film Week, was held on 25 to 29 October 2023. [1] The festival opened with Wregas Bhanuteja's film Andragogy , and closed with Amanda Nell Eu's body horror film Tiger Stripes . [2] [3]

Contents

It was held in-person around Central Jakarta at the CGV Grand Indonesia, Ashley Hotel, Kineforum Ismail Marzuki Park and a new venue: Galeri Indonesia Kaya, also located at Grand Indonesia. Some of the screenings were also streamed virtually through streaming service Vidio. [4] A total of 103 films from 44 countries were screened during the festival. [5]

The most prestigious award of the festival, Global Feature Award, was presented to drama film Tótem directed by Lila Avilés. [6]

Autobiography is a 2022 thriller drama film written and directed by Makbul Mubarak in his directorial debut. It stars Kevin Ardilova and Arswendy Bening Swara. The film had its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival during the Horizons program on September 2, 2022, where it won the FIPRESCI Award for Best Film in sections other than the main competition. Autobiography won the sole award in Best Original Screenplay category among other seven nominations at the 2022 Indonesian Film Festival. The film was chosen as the Indonesian entry for Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards.

The 41st Indonesian Film Festival ceremony, presented by Indonesian Film Board and Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, honored the achievement in Indonesian cinema released from 1 October 2020 to 31 August 2021. The ceremony was held on 10 November 2021 at the Assembly Hall, Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta, Indonesia, and presented by actors Tissa Biani, Prilly Latuconsina, Angga Yunanda and Jefri Nichol. Tótem is a 2023 drama film written and directed by Lila Avilés. The film depicts the story of Seven-year-old Sol, who is spending the day at her grandfather's home, for a surprise party for Sol's father, Tonatiuh. As daylight fades, Sol comes to understand that her world is about to change dramatically. It is selected to compete for the Golden Bear at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, where it had its world premiere on 20 February 2023. It is a co-production between Mexico, Denmark and France.

The 37th Citra Awards ceremony took place on 11 November 2017 at the Grand Kawanua International Convention Hall in Manado, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. It was hosted by comedian Denny Chandra and Puteri Indonesia 2016 titleholder Kezia Warouw. The ceremony honored the achievement in Indonesian cinema of 2017. This year, there was one new category that was awarded for the first time, Best Makeup. The ceremony was broadcast on Global TV, iNews and TVRI.

Andragogy is a 2023 drama film written and directed by Wregas Bhanuteja. The film stars Sha Ine Febriyanti as a school teacher whose reputation and career prospects get jeopardized after a video of her confronting a line-cutter goes viral.

Women from Rote Island is a 2023 drama film written and directed by Jeremias Nyangoen in his feature directorial debut.

Jakarta Film Week is an international film festival held in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was initiated by the Tourism and Creative Economy Department of Jakarta in 2021, aimed to support the revival of the film industry post the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia.

The inaugural edition of Jakarta Film Week was held on 18 to 21 November 2021 by the Tourism and Creative Economy Department of Jakarta as an effort to support the revival of film industry post the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The festival was held in-person and virtual around Central Jakarta at the CGV Grand Indonesia, Metropole XXI, and Ashley Hotel, also through streaming service Vidio. Actress Shenina Cinnamon was appointed as the festival ambassador.

The 2022 Jakarta Film Week, the second edition of the film festival Jakarta Film Week, was held on 13 to 16 October 2022. The festival opened with Fajar Nugros' The Ballads of Roy, and closed with Sorayos Prapapan's film Arnold Is a Model Student.
