The 2023 KBO League season was the 42nd season in the history of the KBO League. The regular season began on April 1 and concluded on October 17. [1] A postseason followed, culminating with the Korean Series championship. SSG Landers entered the season as the defending champions.
No changes were made to the league's makeup from the prior season, with the same ten teams competing. [2] Each team played 144 games via facing every other team 16 times. [3]
The LG Twins won both the regular season and the Korean Series.
The 2023 Korea Baseball Organization draft took place on September 15, 2022, at Westin Josun Hotel, Jung-gu, Seoul. [6]
The preseason began on March 13 and ended on March 28, 2023. [7]

The KBO League is the highest level league of baseball in South Korea. The KBO League was founded with six franchises in 1982 and is the most popular sports league in South Korea. The Kia Tigers are the most successful team, having won 11 of the 42 championships.
SSG Landers are a South Korean professional baseball team. The team was originally established as the SK Wyverns but was renamed as the SSG Landers in 2021 after Shinsegae acquired the team from SK Group. They are a member of the KBO League. Based in Incheon, they play their home games at Incheon SSG Landers Field.
The LG Twins are a South Korean professional baseball team based in Seoul, South Korea. They are a member of the KBO League. The Twins play their home games at Jamsil Baseball Stadium, which they share with their rivals, the Doosan Bears.
Dustin David Nippert is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball, and the Doosan Bears and KT Wiz of the KBO League. Nippert won the KBO League Most Valuable Player Award in 2016. With eight seasons in the KBO, Nippert holds the record for the longest career of any foreign player.
The Korean Series is the final championship series of the KBO League. It has been held since the KBO League's first season in 1982 and is the final series of the post-season play-offs. From 2005 to 2013, the winner of the Korean Series went on to play in the Asia Series.
Kim Sang-hyeon is a South Korean third baseman who played for 16 years in the KBO League.
KBO Futures League or Korea Baseball Futures League is South Korea's second level of baseball, below the KBO League. It serves as a farm league with the purpose to develop professional players on-demand to play in the KBO League. The league consists of two divisions — the Southern League and the Northern League. These leagues are governed by the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO). The league plays an 80-game season.
The NC Dinos are a South Korean professional baseball team based in Changwon. They are a member of the KBO League. Since 2019, their home stadium is Changwon NC Park. NC Dinos are owned by video game developer NCSoft Corporation.

Ha-seong Kim is a South Korean professional baseball shortstop for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB). Kim was drafted 41st overall by the Nexen Heroes in the 2014 Korea Baseball Organization Draft. He made his KBO debut with the Heroes in May 2014 and won the KBO Golden Glove Award in 2018, 2019 and 2020. In December 2020, Kim signed with the San Diego Padres, and made his MLB debut in 2021. In 2023, Kim became the first Korean-born player to win a Gold Glove Award.
Jung Hyun is a baseball infielder for the SSG Landers of the KBO League. He graduated Busan High School. He joined the Samsung Lions in 2013, and in 2014 he transferred to KT Wiz.

The league's format and makeup were not changed in the 2024 season from the previous season, with the same ten teams competing; the Kia Tigers, Doosan Bears, Lotte Giants, NC Dinos, LG Twins, Hanwha Eagles, KT Wiz, Samsung Lions, SSG Landers, and the Kiwoom Heroes. The Landers made a change in their team logo and updated their cap insignia before the 2024 season.
