The COVID-19 pandemic in Kazakhstan was a part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. The virus was confirmed to have reached Kazakhstan on 13 March 2020 after two Kazakh citizens in Almaty returned from Germany. That same day, two more cases were confirmed, with one female arriving from Italy in Astana and the other from Germany in Almaty as well. Following the outbreak, on 15 March 2020, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared a state of emergency that was set to last until 15 April 2020. However, measures were prolonged in order to curb the transmission of the virus, leading to many notable holidays such as Nowruz and the Victory Day being cancelled. On 19 March 2020, a strict quarantine was placed on the cities of Astana and Almaty, where the most cases were occurring. On 30 March 2020, Atyrau and five cities in Karaganda Region went under a lockdown.

Abai Region is a region of Kazakhstan. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced on 16 March 2022 that the region would be created. The area split off from East Kazakhstan Region when Tokayev's bill came into force on 8 June 2022. The administrative center of the region is Semey, until 2007 known as Semipalatinsk. Its borders roughly correspond to the old Semipalatinsk Region which was liquidated in 1997 and merged with East Kazakhstan Region.
Ulytau Region is a region of Kazakhstan. The administrative center of the region is the city of Jezkazgan. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced on 16 March 2022 that the region would be created. The area split off from Karaganda Region when Tokayev's bill came into force on 8 June 2022. On 11 June 2022 Berik Bakhytovich Abdygaliev was appointed akim of the Ulytau region. The region's borders roughly correspond to the western half of the old Jezkazgan Region which was liquidated in 1997 and merged with Karaganda Region.
The People's Coalition, officially the People's Coalition in Support of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, was an electoral alliance in Kazakhstan formed on 6 October 2022 from various pro-government political parties and republican public associations in support of incumbent President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's re-election bid for the 2022 presidential election.
Following the 2023 Kazakh legislative election, a process of government formation took place in Kazakhstan as incumbent prime minister Älihan Smaiylov alongside his cabinet resigned from the position on 29 March 2023 to serve briefly as acting minister before a new government was appointed.
Zülfia Bolatqyzy Süleimenova is a Kazakh politician who served as a Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources from 4 January 2023 to 1 September 2023, making her one of Kazakhstan's youngest ministers to serve in the government. She also previously served as a deputy of the Mäjilis of the 7th convocation from 2021 to 2022.
