The 2023 Maine Black Bears football team represented the University of Maine as a member of the Coastal Athletic Association Football Conference (CAA) in the 2023 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Black Bears were led by second-year head coach Jordan Stevens and played home games at Alfond Stadium in Orono, Maine.
The CAA, formerly known as the Colonial Athletic Association from 2007 through 2022, changed its name in July 2023 to accommodate future membership expansion outside of the Thirteen Colonies.
Over the off-season, Maine lost sixteen players through the transfer portal. Twelve are currently committed while the remainder are still actively pursuing new schools. [1]

The Coastal Athletic Association (CAA), formerly the ECAC South Conference and the Colonial Athletic Association, is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division I whose full members are located in East Coast states, from Massachusetts to South Carolina. Most of its members are public universities, and the conference is headquartered in Richmond. The CAA was historically a Southern conference until the addition of four schools in the Northeastern United States after the turn of the 21st century, which added geographic balance to the conference.
The Maine Black Bears are the athletic teams that represent the University of Maine. A member of the America East Conference, the University of Maine sponsors teams in eight men's and nine women's NCAA sanctioned sports. The men's and women's ice hockey teams are members of Hockey East, and the football team is an associate member of the Coastal Athletic Association.
The Maine Black Bears football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the University of Maine located in the U.S. state of Maine. The team competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and are members of the Coastal Athletic Association. Maine's first football team was fielded in 1892. The team plays its home games at the 8,419 seat Alfond Stadium in Orono, Maine.
The Towson Tigers football team represents Towson University in the sport of American football. The Tigers compete in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) as a member of the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). The Tigers are currently coached by Pete Shinnick. Their home games are played at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Maryland.
The 2011 Maine Black Bears football team represented the University of Maine in the 2011 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Black Bears were led by 19th-year head coach Jack Cosgrove and played their home games at Alfond Stadium. They are a member of the Colonial Athletic Association. They finished the season 9–4, 6–2 in CAA play to finish in a three way tie for second place. They received an at-large bid into the FCS playoffs where they defeated Appalachian State in the second round before falling to Georgia Southern in the quarterfinals.

They were led by 20th-year head coach Jack Cosgrove and played their home games at Alfond Stadium. They are a member of the Colonial Athletic Association. They finished the season 5–6, 4–4 in CAA play to finish in seventh place.
The 2013 Maine Black Bears football team represented the University of Maine in the 2013 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by 21st-year head coach Jack Cosgrove and played their home games at Alfond Stadium. They were a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). They finished the season 10–3, 7–1 in CAA play to be crowned CAA Champions. They received an automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs where they lost in the second round to fellow CAA member New Hampshire.

They finished the season 3–8, 3–5 in CAA play to finish in a four-way tie for seventh place.
