"2024" is a song by American rapper Playboi Carti.[1] The song was originally teased on YouTube in December 2023 and was later officially released on the V2 version of Playboi Carti's third studio album, Music, as well as its deluxe version, Music - Sorry 4 Da Wait, which was released on March 25, 2025.[2][3] The song was written by Playboi Carti, alongside Ojivolta, Kanye West, and Earl on the Beat.[4]
In 2023–2024, Playboi Carti released several snippets of upcoming music to be released in his third studio album, Music.[5] On December 14, 2023, Playboi Carti released the music video for "2024" on YouTube.[6][7] He then performed it live for the first time, alongside other Music snippets, at the Summer Smash 2024 festival.[8]
After releasing his third studio album, Music, on March 14, 2025, Playboi Carti digitally released new album versions with additional songs. He included "2024" on V2.[3] On March 25, Playboi Carti released the deluxe version of his third studio album, Music - Sorry 4 Da Wait, and included "2024" as the thirty-second song in its track listing.[9]
Production
The song was produced with a chopped sample of Malaysian-Australian singer-songwriter Yeo's song "Jacob's Ladder" overlaid on synthesizers and bass.[10][11]
Critical reception
In a ranking of snippets released by Playboi Carti in the lead-up to Music's release in 2025, Kieran Press-Reynolds of Complex placed "2024" in first place. He lauded the "refreshing" nature of the song as a step forward from the "rage" of Whole Lotta Red and called it "maybe the prettiest beat he's used since the 'Pissy Pamper' era."[11]
