"Backr00ms" (stylized in all caps) is a song by American rappers Playboi Carti and Travis Scott. It was initially released as a promotional track on January 1, 2024, exclusively on YouTube, [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] and was later released on the deluxe edition of his third studio album, Music , on March 25, 2025. The song was written by Playboi Carti and Travis Scott, alongside American record producers Cardo and Ojivolta. It marked the fourth promotional single of Music, preceded by "HBA" (originally "H00dByAir"), which was released on December 19, 2023.
On January 1, Playboi Carti's backup dancer and experimental musician, Blackhaine, would announce on Carti's Instagram story that he would be releasing a song that day, alongside an image showcasing the time of its release. [6] The song's title is a reference to the Backrooms internet phenomenon.
The video shows Travis Scott and Playboi Carti rapping in a garage in front of an SUV tank car. [7]
In "Backr00ms", Carti uses his "deep voice" delivery that was first showcased in Travis Scott's 2023 song "Fein". Scott's verse is described as "subdued", although he excels at "staying in Carti's pocket". [8]
