Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury were the two-time reigning champions, but did not qualify this year. [1]

Max Purcell, [2] Jordan Thompson, [2] Henry Patten, [3] Tim Pütz [4] and Andrea Vavassori [5] made their debuts in the doubles competition.

Marcelo Arévalo and Mate Pavić clinched the year-end ATP No. 1 doubles ranking both as individuals and as a team. [6] Nikola Mektić, Thompson, Vavassori, and the pair of Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos were also in contention for the No. 1 individual ranking at the start of the tournament.

Pavić is trying to become the sixth man to complete the Career Super Slam in men's doubles.

Kevin Krawietz and Pütz became the first all-German duo to reach the semifinals in ATP Finals history. [7] They also became the first No.8 seeds to reach the doubles final. [8]

Aged 44 years and 8 months old, Rohan Bopanna became the oldest man to win a match at the ATP Finals, with his win against Krawietz and Pütz in the final round-robin match. [9]

Purcell and Thompson became the first all-Australian team to reach the semifinals since Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde in 1999. [2] [10]

He also attained his career-high singles ranking of world No. 462 in September 2022.

Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury defeated Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić in the final, 7–6(7–4), 6–4 to win the doubles tennis title at the 2022 ATP Finals. It was their first ATP Finals title. Salisbury became the first Briton to win an ATP Finals doubles title. By staying undefeated, the champions also claimed $930,300, the biggest doubles payout in history at the time.

Hugo Nys and Jan Zieliński defeated Robin Haase and Botic van de Zandschulp in the final, 7–5, 6–1 to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2023 Italian Open.

Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski defeated Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos in the final, 6–4, 6–4 to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships. It was both players' first major title in men's doubles.

Sebastian Korda and Jordan Thompson defeated Ariel Behar and Adam Pavlásek in the final, 6–3, 7–6(9–7) to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2024 Madrid Open. It was the first ATP Masters 1000 doubles title for both players, Korda's first career ATP Tour doubles title and Thompson's sixth.

Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos won the men's doubles title at the 2024 Italian Open, defeating Marcelo Arévalo and Mate Pavić in the final, 6–2, 6–2. It was the eighth ATP Masters 1000 doubles title for Granollers, and seventh for Zeballos. They did not drop a set on their way to their second Rome title as a pair, having won their first in 2020.

Marcelo Arévalo and Mate Pavić defeated Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in the final, 7–5, 6–3 to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2024 French Open. It was Arévalo's second major men's doubles title and Pavić's fourth. Pavić completed the career Golden Slam in men's doubles with the win, having previously won the other three majors and the Olympic gold medal.

Harri Heliövaara and Henry Patten defeated Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson in the final, 6–7(7–9), 7–6(10–8), 7–6(11–9) to win the gentlemen's doubles tennis title at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. They saved three championship points en route to both players' first major title in men's doubles. Heliövaara became the first Finnish man to win the title. Patten became the third British man in the Open Era to win the title after Neal Skupski and Jonathan Marray. Heliövaara and Patten became the first unseeded team to win the title since Vasek Pospisil and Jack Sock in 2014.

Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos defeated Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury in the final, 6–2, 7–6(7–4) to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2024 Canadian Open.

Marcelo Arévalo and Mate Pavić defeated Mackenzie McDonald and Alex Michelsen in the final, 6–2, 6–4 to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2024 Cincinnati Open.

Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson defeated Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz in the final, 6–4, 7–6(7–4) to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2024 US Open. They saved two match points en route to the title. It was Thompson's first major doubles title and Purcell's second.

Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektić defeated Máximo González and Andrés Molteni in the final, 6–4, 6–4 to win the doubles tennis title at the 2024 Shanghai Masters. It was the fifth ATP Masters 1000 doubles title for Koolhof and ninth for Mektić.

Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektić defeated Lloyd Glasspool and Adam Pavlásek in the final, 3–6, 6–3, [10–5] to win the doubles tennis title at the 2024 Paris Masters.
