The 2017 Swedish Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts as part of the ATP World Tour 250 Series of the 2017 ATP World Tour and as part of the International Series on the 2017 WTA Tour. It took place in Båstad, Sweden, from 17 through 23 July 2017 for the men's tournament, and from 24 through 30 July 2017 for the women's tournament. It is also known as the 2017 SkiStar Swedish Open for the men and the 2017 Ericsson Open for the women for sponsorship reasons. It was the 70th edition of the event for the men and the 9th edition for the women.

Both events were originally scheduled for February 15 to 21 and February 22 to 28 for women's and men's tournaments, respectively. They were rescheduled to March 7 to 13 and March 14 to 20 due to the Australian Open reschedule and were held at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Garbiñe Muguruza defeated Barbora Krejčíková in the final, 7–6(8–6), 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis event at the 2021 Dubai Tennis Championships. Muguruza dropped just one set during the tournament, to Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinals.

Emma Raducanu defeated Leylah Fernandez in the final, 6–4, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2021 US Open. It was her first major title, and she became the first qualifier to win a major. Additionally, she became the first British woman to win a singles major since Virginia Wade at the 1977 Wimbledon Championships, and the second player to win the US Open on her debut after Bianca Andreescu in 2019. Aged 18, Raducanu became the youngest major champion since Maria Sharapova at the 2004 Wimbledon Championships and with a ranking of world No. 150, the lowest-ranked player to win a major since Kim Clijsters at the 2009 US Open, and the youngest player to win the title since Serena Williams at the 1999 US Open. She also won the title without losing a set during the tournament, including during her three qualification matches, and was not taken to a tiebreaker in any set. This was her first WTA Tour singles title, making her the fourth woman in the Open Era to win a major as her first singles title.

With the win, Świątek extended her winning streak to 35 matches, equaling Venus Williams' tally from the 2000 season. Świątek also became the youngest winner of multiple majors since Maria Sharapova in 2006.

Both events were held at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The women's tournament took place from February 19 to 25, and the men's tournament from February 27 to March 4.
Barbora Krejčíková defeated Iga Świątek in the final, 6–4, 6–2 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 Dubai Tennis Championships. It was her first WTA 1000 title. In addition to world No. 1 Świątek, Krejčíková also defeated No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka and No. 3 Jessica Pegula, becoming the fifth woman to defeat the top three ranked players in a single tournament, and the third to do so outside of the WTA Finals. Krejčíková also saved four match points en route to the title, in the second round against Daria Kasatkina.
Petra Kvitová defeated Elena Rybakina in the final, 7–6(16–14), 6–2 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 Miami Open. It was Kvitová's first WTA 1000 title since the 2018 Madrid Open, and her 30th career title overall; she also became the first Czech player to win the title. Rybakina was attempting to complete the Sunshine Double, having already won the title at Indian Wells.
Aryna Sabalenka defeated Iga Świątek in the final, 6–3, 3–6, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 Madrid Open. It was her fifth WTA 1000 title. This marked the first time since 2013 that the top two seeds contested the Madrid Open final. It was also the first time since 2000 that the top two players on the WTA Tour contested back-to-back finals, after Świątek won in Stuttgart the week prior.
Elena Rybakina won the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 Italian Open after Anhelina Kalinina retired from the final with the scoreline at 6–4, 1–0. It was Rybakina's second title of 2023 and second career WTA 1000 title. Rybakina won three of her six matches at the tournament via retirement: over Anna Kalinskaya in the third round, Iga Świątek in the quarterfinals, and Kalinina in the final. With the win, Rybakina entered the top five in the WTA rankings for the first time at world No. 4.

Defending champion Aryna Sabalenka defeated Zheng Qinwen in the final, 6–3, 6–2 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2024 Australian Open. It was her second major singles title. Sabalenka did not drop a set during the tournament, and lost only 31 games in total. Sabalenka became the first player to defend the women's singles title at the Australian Open since compatriot Victoria Azarenka in 2013.
Two-time defending champion Iga Świątek defeated Elena Rybakina in the final, 7–6(10–8), 6–2 to win the singles tennis title at the 2024 WTA Qatar Open. Świątek became the first player to win three titles at the Qatar Open, and the first player to win three consecutive titles at the same hardcourt tournament since Serena Williams at the Miami Open between 2013 and 2015.
