The 2024 Shakey's Super League Pre-season Championship was the third edition of the collegiate volleyball competition organized by the Shakey's Super League and the third and final SSL tournament of 2024. The tournament started on September 27, 2024, and will be contested by all 18 teams from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). [1]

Contents

The NU Lady Bulldogs enter this tournament as two-time defending pre-season champions while also coming off their title run in the 2024 National Invitationals tournament. [2] [3]

Format

The format of this year's Pre-season Championship will remain unchanged, with its all-to-play rule still intact. [3] [4]

First round
  1. Single-round robin format; 4 pools; Teams are ranked using the FIVB Ranking System.
  2. The top two teams per pool will advance to the second round.
Second round
  1. Single-round robin format; 2 pools; Teams are ranked using the FIVB Ranking System.
  2. The W-L record in the first round will be carried over in the second round.
  3. After another pool play, the eight teams will battle in the crossover quarterfinals.

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), established in 1938, is an athletic association of eight Metro Manila universities in the Philippines. Mhicaela Santos Belen, better known as Bella Belen is a Filipino volleyball player. She is currently playing as an outside hitter for Alas Pilipinas, as well as for the NU Lady Bulldogs in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) women's volleyball tournaments.

The 2022 Shakey's Super League Pre-season Championship was the inaugural edition of the collegiate pre-season competition organized by the Shakey's Super League. It is also the first tournament for the SSL in general and the only such in 2022. The tournament was held on September 24 to November 19, 2022, at Rizal Memorial Coliseum, Manila. It features 18 collegiate teams from the two most prominent collegiate athletics associations in the country — NCAA and UAAP.

UAAP Season 85 was the 2022–23 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). Season 85 theme is "Rise as One", and the season host was the Adamson University. With just seven events in Season 84, the collegiate league will be bringing back the full athletic calendar of events for Season 85.

The UAAP Season 85 volleyball tournaments were the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) volleyball tournaments for the 2022–23 school year. This was the first completed tournament since 2019.

Karl Kevin Argana Quiambao is a Filipino college basketball player for the De La Salle Green Archers of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). He has won championships in the juniors division and seniors division of the UAAP, and has played for the Philippine national team multiple times.

The FEU Lady Tamaraws volleyball program is the women's collegiate varsity volleyball team of the Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines. The team competes in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).

The Adamson Lady Falcons are the women's collegiate varsity volleyball team of the Adamson University. The team competes in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).

Thea Allison Gagate is a Filipino volleyball player. She is currently playing as a middle blocker for the Zus Coffee Thunderbelles in the Premier Volleyball League.

Ma. Bernadett Pepito is a Filipino volleyball player. She is currently playing for the UST Golden Tigresses collegiate women's volleyball team in UAAP.

The UAAP Season 86 basketball tournaments are the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball tournaments for the 2023–24 school year. The University of the East are the hosts.

Shaina Marie Nitura is a Filipino volleyball player. She is currently playing as an outside spiker for the Adamson Lady Baby Falcons in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) high school girls' volleyball tournament.

Sheena Angela Toring is a Filipino volleyball player. She is currently playing for the NU Lady Bulldogs in the UAAP.

The 2024 Shakey's Super League National Invitationals was the second edition of the national collegiate competition organized by the Shakey's Super League and the second SSL tournament of 2024.The tournament began on July 10 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium. This tournament showcased the top three teams of the recent volleyball tournaments of the NCAA and UAAP, alongside the top two teams from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao that qualified on the regional qualifiers.

The UAAP Season 87 basketball tournaments are the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball tournaments for the 2024–25 school year. The University of the Philippines Diliman are the hosts.
