New Jersey

Democratic governor-elect Mikie Sherrill was elected in 2025 with 56.7% of the vote. [1] She is eligible to run for re-election but has not yet stated if she will do so.

Virginia

Democratic governor-elect Abigail Spanberger was elected in 2025 with 57.5% of the vote. [2] She will be term-limited from the Virginia Constitution from seeking re-election to a second consecutive term. Virginia is the only state in the United States that prohibits its governors from seeking consecutive terms.
