The 20th Independent Spirit Awards , honoring the best independent films of 2004, were presented by Film Independent on February 26, 2005. [1] [2] [3] The nominations were announced on December 1, 2004. [4] It was hosted by Samuel L. Jackson, who previously hosted the event in 1996 and 1997. [5]
