Wang Po-chieh's original nomination for the Best New Performer was withdrawn after he was confirmed to be an actor in the 2008 Taiwan film Winds of September . His nomination was replaced by Fala Chen. [2]

Chow Yun-fatSBS, previously known as Donald Chow, is a Hong Kong actor and filmmaker. Known for his versatility, encompassing action to melodrama and comedy and historical drama, he is the recipient of various accolades, including three Hong Kong Film Awards for Best Actor and two Golden Horse Awards for Best Actor. In a film career spanning more than forty years, Chow has appeared in over 100 television drama series and films.
The Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and Taipei Golden Horse Awards are a film festival and associated awards ceremony held annually in Taiwan. Fala Chen is a Chinese and American actress. After winning the Miss Chinese International Pageant 2005, Chen made her debut as an actress in the Hong Kong cinema. She rose to prominence for her roles in the drama series Heart of Greed (2007) and its sequel Moonlight Resonance (2008). She won Best Supporting Actress twice at the TVB Anniversary Awards for her performances in the romance series Steps (2007) and the period drama series No Regrets (2010), and made her feature film debut in the crime thriller Turning Point (2009), earning a nomination for Best New Performer in the 29th Hong Kong Film Awards. She went on to star in lead roles in the crime thriller series Lives of Omission (2011), the drama series Triumph in the Skies II, and the horror film Tales from the Dark 2.
Zhou Xun is a Chinese actress and singer. She is regarded as one of the Four Dan Actresses of China. She gained international fame for her roles in Suzhou River (2000) and Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress (2002). Zhou went on to star in notable films Perhaps Love (2005), The Equation of Love and Death (2008), Painted Skin (2008), The Message (2009), Flying Swords of Dragon Gate (2011), Our Time Will Come (2017) and Across the Furious Sea (2023).
Kara Wai Ying-hungBBS is a Hong Kong actress best known internationally for her roles in wuxia films produced by the Shaw Brothers Studio in the 1970s and 1980s.
Ceremony for the 26th Hong Kong Film Awards was held on 15 April 2007 in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and hosted by Bowie Tsang, Nick Cheung and Lam Chi-chung. Twenty-six winners in nineteen categories were unveiled, with film After This Our Exile being the year's biggest winner. The ceremony also featured performances by Jay Chou, Eason Chan, Alive and Jane Zhang.

Night and Fog is a 2009 Hong Kong film directed by Ann Hui. Based on a real murder-suicide case in Tin Shui Wai in 2004, the film attempts to raise awareness of some issues related to new immigrants in Hong Kong. The film stars Simon Yam as Lee Sum, the abusive husband, and Zhang Jingchu as Wong Hiu-ling, his wife. It is the second and final volume of Ann Hui's Tin Shui Wai series, the first one being The Way We Are.
The Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actress is an award presented annually at the Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA). It is given to honour an actress who has delivered an outstanding performance in a Hong Kong film.[Note 1] The 1st Hong Kong Film Awards ceremony was held in 1982, with no formal nomination procedure established; the award was given to Kara Wai for her role in My Young Auntie. After the first award ceremony, a nomination system was put in place whereby no more than five nominations are made for each category and each entry is selected through two rounds of voting. Firstly, prospective nominees are marked with a weight of 50% each from HKFA voters and a hundred professional adjudicators, contributing towards a final score with which the top five nominees advance to the second round of voting. The winner is then selected via a scoring process where 55% of the vote comes from 55 professional adjudicators, 25% from representatives of the Hong Kong Performing Artistes Guild and 20% from all other HKFA Executive Committee Members.
