37th Artios Awards , presented by the Casting Society of America, honoring the best originality, creativity and the contribution of casting to the overall quality of a film, television, theatre and short-form projects, was held on March 23, 2022, virtually. [1] [2] It was originally scheduled to be held on March 17, 2022.

Contents

The nominations for the television, theatre, shorts and shortform series categories were announced on November 22, 2021. [3] The nominees for the film categories were announced on January 31, 2022. [4] [5]

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the American theatre, a new category was presented named Virtual Theatre in order to recognize the efforts done by the theatre community during the 2020-21 season.

The Casting Society, formerly known as Casting Society of America (CSA), was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1982 as a professional society of about 1,200 casting directors and associate casting directors for film, television, theatre, and commercials in Canada, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa, and the United States. The nonprofit organization announced the name change from Casting Society of America to Casting Society on February 10, 2022. The society is not to be confused with an industry union. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters represent most of the major casting directors and associate casting directors in Hollywood. Members use the post-nominal letters "CSA" when credited for their work.

Paul W. Downs is an American actor, writer, director, and producer. He is the co-creator, co-showrunner and star of the critically-acclaimed HBO Max series Hacks, for which he has received a Primetime Emmy, Golden Globe, and Peabody Award, among others. Downs first gained notoriety for his role in the Comedy Central series Broad City, which ran for five seasons and for which he was also a writer, director and executive producer.

Lucia Aniello is an Italian-born American director, writer, and producer best known for her work on Hacks, for which she won multiple Emmy Awards, and Broad City. She has directed and written episodes of both shows, as well as the miniseries Time Traveling Bong and the 2017 film Rough Night.

Central Park is an American musical adult animated sitcom created by Loren Bouchard, Nora Smith and Josh Gad for Apple TV+, using the same art style as Bouchard's previous series Bob's Burgers. The series premiered on May 29, 2020, and revolves around a family living in Central Park in New York City who must save it from a greedy land developer.

The Artios Award for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy Pilot Casting is an award handed out annually by the Casting Society of America. It was introduced at the Art Directors Guilds' twelfth annual honors, in 1996, after first being grouped together with casting for dramatic pilot episodes for the category Outstanding Achievement in Pilot Casting, which was introduced at the seventh annual awards in 1991. It is an award that is given to casting directors for their work on television pilot episodes, or a series first episode.

The 33rd Producers Guild of America Awards, honoring the best film and television producers of 2021, were held at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, California on March 19, 2022. Originally scheduled to take place on February 26, 2022, the ceremony was postponed amid a surge in COVID-19 infections due to the Omicron variant. The nominations in the documentary category were announced on December 10, 2021, the nominees in the sports, children's and short-form categories were announced on January 18, 2022, and the remaining nominations for film and television were announced on January 27, 2022. The nominations for the PGA Innovation Award were announced on February 24, 2022.

The 38th Artios Awards, presented by the Casting Society of America, honoring the best originality, creativity and the contribution of casting to the overall quality of a film, television series, short film, short-form series and theatre production, were held on March 9, 2023, simultaneously at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles and Edison Ballroom in New York, being the first time in two years that the ceremony was an in-person event.
