The 40th Artillery Brigade is an artillery formation of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, based in Pervomaisk. The unit was activated on 25 May 2015.

Contents

On 23 August 2020, the Brigade was awarded the honorific "Grand Duke Vytautas". [1]

During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the brigade was rendered the recently established honorary award of "For Courage and Bravery" by Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy for its service in defense of Kharkiv. [2]

The brigade is located in Zhytomyr. It is considered one of the most prestigious and capable units in the Ukrainian military. The brigade is one of Ukraine’s Partnership for Peace units. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Ukrainian Marine Corps</span> Branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Ukrainian Marine Corps, also known simply as the Ukrainian Marines, is the maritime land force service branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2023, responsible for conducting expeditionary and amphibious operations. From its modern foundation in 1993 up to 2023 it constituted part of the Coastal Forces of the Ukrainian Navy. It is used as a component part of amphibious, airborne and amphibious-airborne operations, alone or in coordination with formations and units of the Ground Forces in order to capture parts of the seashore, islands, ports, fleet bases, coast airfields and other coast objects from the enemy. The 2A65 "Msta-B" is a Soviet towed 152.4 mm howitzer. The "B" in the designation is an abbreviation for Buksiruyemaya, which means towed. The 26th Artillery Brigade is an artillery formation of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, based in Berdychiv. It traces its history to the 117th Guards Rifle Division of the Second World War.

The 46th Nizhnedneprovskaya Order of the October Revolution Red Banner Rocket Division / Missile Division was a division of the Soviet Strategic Rocket Forces, active from 1961–62 to 1992 under the Soviet Union, and from 1992 to 2002 as part of Ukraine. The division traced its history back to the 188th Rifle Division, formed in Kaunas in spring 1941. The division fought in the Battle of the Dnieper, for which it was awarded the honorific "Lower Dnieper". After the Second Jassy–Kishinev Offensive it garrisoned Sliven in Bulgaria. At some point it moved to Pervomaisk in the then-Ukrainian SSR and became the 20th Rifle Division in 1955. In 1957, it became the 93rd Motor Rifle Division and was disbanded in 1959. In 1960, the 29th Rocket Brigade was formed in Pervomaisk and became the 46th Rocket Division in 1960. The 46th Rocket Division inherited the honors and awards of the 188th Rifle Division. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the division became part of Ukrainian military and was disbanded by 2002.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">107th Rocket Artillery Brigade (Ukraine)</span> Military unit

The 107th Rocket Artillery Brigade is a rocket-launcher brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, stationed at Kremenchuk. It was formed from a reorganisation of the previous 107th Rocket Artillery Regiment which itself was formed out of the 107th Rocket Brigade. It is now part of Operational Command East.

The 59th Motorized Brigade is a formation of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. The brigade was activated on 8 December 2014 in the city of Haisyn in Vinnytsia Oblast and took command of three volunteer territorial defence battalions. On 24 August 2015, Ukraine's Independence Day, the brigade received its flag and became fully operational. The brigade fought in the war in Donbas and will become a mechanized formation in the future.

The 57th Otaman Kost Hordiienko Motorized Brigade is a formation of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. The brigade was formed beginning in November 2014 in the city of Kropyvnytskyi in Kirovohrad Oblast. Initially, the brigade consisted of three volunteer territorial defence battalions. By the summer of 2015, the brigade was deployed to fight in the war in Donbas. The ground forces plan to mechanize the brigade in the future.

The 58th Motorized Brigade is a formation of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. The brigade was activated on 17 February 2015 in Sumy and took command of three volunteer territorial defence battalions. The brigade fought for nine months in Eastern Ukraine until it was garrisoned back in Konotop on April 1, 2018.
