8 is the eighth studio album by Peruvian singer-songwriter Gian Marco released by EMI on November 17, 2006. It was his first album released under his new label. [1] Three singles were released in order to promote the album with the song No Te Avisa leading the album to a great start by earning Gian Marco multiple awards.

Commercial performance

The album had success in some parts of Latin America but mainly in Perú where it was quickly certified Platinum for 10,000 copies sold. [2] The album got Gian Marco two nominations at the Premios APDAYC in 2007 for Best Pop/Rock Artist of the Year and Best Pop/Rock Song for No Te Avisa winning the latter which since he couldn't make it to the ceremony his mom, actress Regina Alcóver, received on his behalf. [3] [4] No Te Avisa also won the Premios Luces award for Best Pop/Rock Song in 2008. [5]

It was released as the second single from the record in December 2006 by Warner Music Latina. The track was written by Sanz, while production was handled by him along with Lulo Pérez. "Te Lo Agradezco, Pero No" is the second duet recorded by the two singers, following "La Tortura" for Shakira's album Fijación Oral Vol. 1 (2005). The song came about after she approached Sanz, telling him that she wanted to collaborate on something different from her own material.

The Unión Peruana de Productores Fonográficos (UNIMPRO) is a non-profit organization and industry trade group integrated by multinational and national record companies in Peru composed of various Peruvian corporations involved in the music industry. It was founded in 2001 and it serves as the affiliate member of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) in the country since 2012 and also serves as the national ISRC agency. It is one of the three collective societies in Perú along with Asociación Peruana de Autores y Compositores (APDAYC) and Sociedad Nacional de Intérpretes y Ejecutantes de la Música (SONIEM).
