A.K.M Mustafa Kamal Pasha is a retired Major General of Bangladesh Army. He served as the Director General of Directorate General Medical Service.

Early life

Pasha was born on 22 October 1963 in Kishoreganj District, East Pakistan, Pakistan. [1] He did his MBBS from University of Dhaka. He has a Masters of Public Health from the National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine. [1] He is a graduate of National Defense College. [1] He completed a master's degree from Bangladesh University of Professionals in Strategy & Development Studies. [1]

Career

Pasha served in demining operations in Kuwait while on deputation to the Kuwait Army in 1994. [1]

Pasha is a member of the syndicate committee of Bangladesh University of Professionals in 2018. [2] He served as the Commandant of Armed Forces Medical Institute. He had also served as the Director of Central Medical Stores Depot. [2]

From 2013 to 2015, Pasha served in the Academic council member of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Islamic University, Bangladesh. [1] He is a member of Climate Change and Health Promotion Unit under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. [1]

Pasha was appointed inspector general of Bangladesh Jail on 28 November 2018. [2] [3] He replaced Brigadier General Syed Iftekhar Uddin. [2] In September 2019, he reported that there were nine doctors and 132 vaccines in Bangladesh Prison system. [4]

On 23 September 2020, Brigadier General Mominur Rahman Mamun was appointed inspector general of Bangladesh Jail replacing Pasha who was sent back to Armed Forces Division. [5] [6] On 18 October 2020, Pasha was made the Commandant of Armed Forces Medical College. [1] He was appointed as Director General of DGMS in December 2023 and retired in October 2024.

Osmani joined the Provisional Government of Bangladesh in 1971 as the commander-in-chief of the nascent Bangladesh Forces. Regarded as the founder of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, Osmani retired as the first full general from the Bangladesh Army in 1972.

Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury was a Bangladesh Army general who was 11th Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army from 16 June 2002 to 15 June 2005. He was the last officer to serve in this position who had first been commissioned by and served with the Pakistani Army, before the Liberation War of 1971. He served for two years before the war.

The military coup in Bangladesh on August 15 of 1975 was launched by mid-ranking army officers in order to assassinate founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, whose administration post-independence grew corrupt and reportedly authoritarian until he established a one-party state-based government led by the socialist party Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League. Mujib, along with his resident family members, were killed during the coup but was survived by his two then-expat daughters, one of them being future prime minister Sheikh Hasina. Shakil Ahmed SPP, BSP, BGBM, nswc, afwc, psc is a two-star general of the Bangladesh Army, currently serving as Senior Directing Staff (Army-1) at National Defence College. Prior that, he was the General Officer Commanding of 66th Infantry Division & Area Commander, Rangpur Area. He served as the Director General of Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB). Prior to this appointment, he served as Adjutant General of Army Headquarters. Before that he was the general officers commanding of 19th Infantry Division and area commander Ghatail area.

Muhammad Faizur Rahman SGP, BSP, ndc, afwc, psc is a Lieutenant General Bangladesh Army and incumbent Quartermaster general (QMG). Before that, he served as DG of Directorate-General of Forces Intelligence. He served as the 28th commandant of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC). Prior to join here, he was GOC of the 66 Infantry Division, Bangladesh Army and area commander, Rangpur Area. He also served as the commandant of Army Security Unit of Bangladesh Army.

Shamsul Haider Siddique is a former Bangladesh Army officer and former deputy inspector general of prisons of Bangladesh Jail. He was second in command of the prison system and served under brigadier general Mohammad Zakir Hassan. He served during the 2006–2008 Bangladeshi political crisis began as a military backed caretaker government assumed power at the end of October 2006 following the end of term of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party administration during time numerous politicians, including former ministers and two former prime ministers, were jailed.

Abdus Salam Mamun is a Justice of the High Court Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court.
