Armed Forces Medical Institute (AFMI) is the premier educational institute of the Army Medical Corps of Bangladesh Army. Immediately after liberation in 1971 to cope with the expansion of Armed Forces and to ensure efficient medical support at all level, it was felt necessary to establish an institute for imparting training to Army Medical Corps, Army Dental Corps and Armed Forces Nursing Services officers and other paramedics on various professional matters. It came into being on 2 January 1976. [1] [2]

Objectives

The ultimate objective is to turn each and every member of AMC, ADC and AFNS into military medical personnel of advanced knowledge and expertise, capable of matching the challenge of handling modern war casualty, as well as peacetime patient care and to impart professional training and run courses for AMC, ADC, AFNS officers and ORS. AFMI is well keeping with the nation building motto of the Government. As a part of its human resource development for the nation and beyond, Nursing Institute of AFMI started conducting BSc (Nursing) and Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery courses to produce nursing staff for national health services.

The Bangladesh Army is the land forces branch and the largest of the three defence service of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The primary mission of the Army is to provide necessary forces and capabilities in support of Bangladesh's security and defence strategies including defence of the nation's territorial integrity against external attack. Bangladesh Military Academy

Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) is the training institute for the officer cadets of Bangladesh Army. It is located in Bhatiary, near Chittagong Hill Tracts, in the Chittagong District of south-east Bangladesh, about 13 kilometres north of Chittagong. The Academy is situated on the slopes of the Sitakunda hill ranges and the shore of the Bay of Bengal. Major General Anwarul Momen is the current commandant of the Academy.

SAF Medical Training Institute

The SAF Medical Training Institute is a military medicine training institute under the Army Medical Service within the SAF Medical Corps. As part of the medical corps, the institute oversees the medical vocational training for national servicemen and servicewomen under the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

The Pakistan Navy Ship Shifa or PNS Shifa is a Naval medical treatment facility/hospital. Located on Defence Housing Society in Karachi, Sindh Province, the hospital a major and integral role in the History of Karachi. The PNS Shifa was established in 1953 by the United States Navy Medical Officers when the United States Navy first visited the country. In 1956, it was given the commissioned in the naval services of Pakistan Navy. In 1970, it was re-designed by the Pakistan Naval Engineering Branch, under the project codename Medical Assistant Training School. The name of Pakistan Navy Nursing School was conceived in 1982 when the Female Nursing Cadets and Armed Forces Nursing Services (AFNS) trainee officer were also attached for various professional courses.

Armed Forces Post Graduate Medical Institute

The Armed Forces Post Graduate Medical Institute, commonly referred to as AFPGMI, is a Postgraduate Medical Institute operated by the Pakistan Armed Forces. Its primary function is to provide graduate level medical education to physicians, surgeons, hospital administrators and nurses of Pakistan Armed Forces. It is headed by a Major General from the Medical Corps of the Pakistan Army.
