The Chief Of Air Staff is the professional head of the Bangladesh Air Force. Only pilots get this post. The appointment is held by a four-star air officer and the current COAS is Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan. Prior to 2016, from 2007 the appointment was held by an Air Marshal and from 1972 to 2007 COAS's rank was Air Vice Marshal.

Sabbir Ahmed, SBP, OSP, SGP, ndc, psc, is a retired lieutenant general of the Bangladesh Army who served as Chief of General Staff in the Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC). He also served as General-Officer-Commanding (GOC). Before that he was GOC of the 24th Infantry Division in Chittagong. He also served as GOC of 66th Infantry Division, Director of Military Training (DMT) of Army Headquarters Military Training Directorate of Bangladesh Army.

Md. Emdad-Ul-Bari OSP, ndc, psc, te is a retired major general of the Bangladesh Army and incumbent chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission. He served as Colonel Commandant of Signal Corps.

Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Mafidur Rahman is a retired Bangladesh Air Force officer and former Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh. During his four decades in the military, he led a Bangladesh peacekeeping contingent in the Democratic Republic of Congo, commanded two air bases in Bangladesh, and was vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University (BSMRAAU).

Air Vice Marshal AHM Fazlul Haque BBP, BSP, ndu, afwc, psc, GD(P) is a retired Bangladeshi 2 Star Air Force officer who has served as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations). He is the founding Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University. Before join BSMRAAU, he served as Air Officer Commanding of BAF Base Bir Shretra Matiur Rahman.

Hasan Mahmood Khan is a four-star air chief marshal and the current chief of air staff of the Bangladesh Air Force. Prior to that, he served as assistant chief of air staff (planning). Before that, he served as air officer commanding (AOC) of BAF Base Bangabandhu.

Air Vice Marshal Javed Tanveer Khan BSP, OSP, ndc,afwc, acsc, psc is a Bangladesh Air Force officer and currently appointed as the Bangladeshi Ambassador to Lebanon. Prior to this, he was air officer commanding at BAF Matiur Rahman in Jessore.

Mohammad Khaled Iqbal is a retired rear admiral of the Bangladesh Navy and former vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University. He is the former chairman of Chittagong Port Authority.

Air Vice Marshal A K M Manirul Bahar BSP, ndc, hdmc, afwc, psc, ADWC is a Bangladesh Air Force officer and incumbent Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University. Prior to join here, he served as Air Officer Commanding(AOC) of Bangladesh Air Force Base Cox's Bazar. He served as director of air force headquarters, directorate of air defence.
