The Bangladesh Armed Forces are the combined military forces of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. It consists of the three uniformed military services: the Bangladesh Army, the Bangladesh Navy and the Bangladesh Air Force. The Armed Forces are under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Defence of the Government of Bangladesh, and is directly administered by the Armed Forces Division of the Prime Minister's Office. The Bangladesh Army is the land warfare branch and the largest component of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The primary mission of the Army is to provide necessary forces and capabilities to deliver the Bangladeshi government's security and defence strategies and defending the nation's territorial integrity against external attack. Control of personnel and operations is administered by the Army Headquarters, Dhaka. The Bangladesh Army is also constitutionally obligated to assist the government and its civilian agencies during times of domestic national emergency. This additional role is commonly referred to as "aid to civil administration".

Mirpur is a thana of Dhaka city, Bangladesh. It is bounded by Pallabi Thana to the north, Mohammadpur Thana to the south, Kafrul to the east, and Savar Upazila to the west.

Major General Md. Ismail Faruque Chowdhury is a former engineer-in-chief of the Bangladesh Army.

The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) is a public medical school in Dhaka Cantonment, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the only government medical college under the Ministry of Defence of Bangladesh. From 1999 to 2008 it was affiliated with University of Dhaka (DU). Currently it is affiliated with Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). A major general of Bangladesh Army's Medical Corps is the Commandant of the college.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) (Bengali: প্রতিরক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়) is a Bangladeshi government ministry. The MoD is headed by the Minister of Defence, a civilian and member of cabinet. Before that he served as military secretary to President Md Abdul Hamid and as Engineer-in-chief at Army Headquarters, Commandant of Military Institute of Science and Technology, Chief Engineer of Dhaka City Corporation, Director of Special Works Organization and Director of Works & Chief Engineer of the Bangladesh Army. He was also ex-officio Chairman of Shimanto Bank which is a sister concern of BGB Welfare Trust.

Mohammad Maksudur Rahman is a retired major general in the Bangladesh Army. Before retirement he was Director General of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies. Mohammad Maksudur Rahman is the chairman of Uttara Finance and Investments Limited.

Mohammad Saiful Abedin, BSP, ndc, psc is a retired major general in the Bangladesh Army. He was General officer commanding (GOC) of the 24th Infantry Division and Area Commander, Chattogram Area. He is the former director general of DGFI. He previously served as Commandant of Defence Services Command & Staff College (DSCSC). He was also the Commandant of Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Centre (BIRC). He also served in 71 Mechanized Brigade as Commander.

Md Nazimuddin, psc is a retired lieutenant general of Bangladesh Army. He previously served as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of ARTDOC and 55 Infantry Division and Jessore area commander and served as Chief of General Staff (CGS) of Bangladesh Army. He was also Director General of Bangladesh Ansar & VDP. He also served as a Directing Staff in Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur Cantonment. He was commissioned in 8th BMA long course in 1983. He is a graduate of Defence Services Command & Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur Cantonment.

Defence Services Command and Staff College is a government owned defense college that provides training to Bangladeshi military officers and is located in Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Major General Md. Faizur Rahman is the current Commandant of DSCSC.

Major General Khan Firoz Ahmed ndc, afwc, psc is a two-star general of the Bangladesh Army. He is currently serving as the Military Secretary in Army Headquarters, Dhaka Cantonment. He also served as Acting Adjutant General in January 2023.Before serving as Military Secretary, he was the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 7th Infantry Division & Area Commander, Barishal Area from 02 December 2021 to 27 August 2022. He also served as the Defense Advisor of Bangladesh permanent mission to UN 2017 to 2020. He was promoted to the rank of Major General on 2 December 2021. He was commissioned in the East Bengal Regiment with the 23rd BMA Long Course on 21 December 1990.
