This is a list of the serving generals (major generals, lieutenant generals and full generals) of the Bangladesh Army.
Currently, the army maintains posts for has one general, five lieutenant generals and fifty-four major generals.
Generals holding appointments of the army headquarters have been written in bold format (e.g. Master General of Ordnance - MGO); appointments of General Officer Commandings (GOCs)/all other important appointments held by generals have been written in bold format and also Army Medical Corps has been written in bold format.
Chowdhury Hasan Sarwardy, Bir Bikram, SBP, BSP, OSP, ndc, psc is a retired lieutenant general of Bangladesh Army and former commandant of National Defence College. He previously served as GOC of Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC).
Mustafizur Rahman was a Bangladeshi Army general who served as the Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army from December 1997 until 23 December 2000.
S M Matiur Rahman OSP (BAR), SUP, afwc, psc, is a retired three-star-rank Bangladesh Army officer, a lieutenant general. He was general officer commanding, Army Training and Doctrine Command, Mymensingh Cantonment. Prior to join ARTDOC, he was GOC of 24 Infantry Division and area commander of Chattogram area. Earlier, he was adjutant general of the Bangladesh Army. He was also vice chairman of Trust Bank's board of directors. He served as general officer commanding (GOC) of 55 Infantry Division & Area Commander of Jessore Area. He also served as the director of Counter-Terrorism Intelligence Bureau (CTIB) of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence. He served as commander of 46th Independent Infantry Brigade. He also served as additional director general (operations) of the Rapid Action Battalion.
Major General (Retd) Mohammad Humayun Kabir, OSP, SUP, rcds, psc, was a two-star general of the Bangladesh Army. As Major General he served as the Commander Logistics Area Dhaka Cantonment of Bangladesh Army. He served in various command and headquarters formations. He served as Adjutant General of Bangladesh Army, Commandant of the Bangladesh Military Academy, the Director of Military Operations-Army headquarters and also the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 55 Infantry division and 17 Infantry division.
Mohammad Saiful Abedin, BSP, ndc, psc is a retired major general in the Bangladesh Army. He was General officer commanding (GOC) of the 24th Infantry Division and Area Commander, Chattogram Area. He is the former director general of DGFI. He previously served as Commandant of Defence Services Command & Staff College (DSCSC). He was also the Commandant of Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Centre (BIRC). He also served in 71 Mechanized Brigade as Commander.
Md Nazimuddin, psc is a retired lieutenant general of Bangladesh Army. He previously served as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of ARTDOC and 55 Infantry Division and Jessore area commander and served as Chief of General Staff (CGS) of Bangladesh Army. He was also Director General of Bangladesh Ansar & VDP. He also served as a Directing Staff in Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur Cantonment. He was commissioned in 8th BMA long course in 1983. He is a graduate of Defence Services Command & Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur Cantonment.
Anwar Hussain is a retired 3 Star General of the Bangladesh Army. He has served as the Quarter Master General of the Army. He is the former Director General of Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) and General officer Commanding (GOC) of Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC). He has been honored as the Colonel Commandant of Regiment of Artillery of Bangladesh Army as he is the highest Ranking and senior longest serving officer of Regiment of Artillery of Bangladesh Army.
Sheikh Mohammad Shafiuddin Ahmed is a four star general of the Bangladesh Army and the current Chief of Army Staff (CAS) of the Bangladesh Army since June 2021. Prior to his appointment as CAS, he served as the quartermaster general (QMG) of Bangladesh Army as a lieutenant general. In his 40 year long military career he has also served as director general of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS), Director of Military Training (DMT), besides commanding an infantry brigade and an infantry division.
Mohammad Saiful Alam is a lieutenant general in the Bangladesh Army and the current Commandant of National Defence College, Bangladesh. He served as the quarter master general (QMG) of the Bangladesh Army in Army Headquarters. He is the former director general of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI). He also served as general officer commanding (GOC), 11 Infantry Division and area commander, Bogura Area.
Major General Md. Main Ullah Chowdhury, SUP, OSP, awc, psc is a retired two star commissioned flag officer in the Infantry Regiment. He was formerly served as Director of AG’s Branch. Earlier, he was acting Force Commander of the United Nations Mission for Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO). In the same mission, he served as deputy Force Commander, United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). Prior to join UNMISS, he served as GOC of 10th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army.
Waker-uz-Zaman is a Lieutenant general of the Bangladesh Army; he is the present chief of general staff (CGS) of the Bangladesh Army.
Chowdhury Mohammad Azizul Haque Hazary OSP (BAR), SGP, ndc, psc, MPhil is a major general of Bangladesh Army and General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 17th Infantry Division, Sylhet Cantonment & Area Commander, Sylhet Area, Sylhet.
Mohammad Shaheenul Haque BSP, ndc, hdmc, psc is a major general of the Bangladesh Army and incumbent master general of ordnance at army headquarters. Earlier, he was the GOC 24th Infantry Division and area commander of Chittagong Area.
Md. Rashed Amin OSP, rcds, ndc, psc is a retired major general of the Bangladesh Army. He is serving as Senior Directing Staff (Civil) at the National Defense College. He served as the general officer commanding the 7th Infantry Division and 33rd Infantry Divisions.
Jahangir Harun SGP, ndc, afwc, psc is a retired major general in the Bangladesh Army. He was GOC of 33rd Infantry Division & Area Commander, Cumilla Area. Prior to join there, he served as Commandant of Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training (BIPSOT).
Md Fakhrul Ahsan, BSP, ndu, psc is a major general in the Bangladesh Army and Force Commander for MINURSO, the UN peacekeeping mission in the Sahara. Prior to join there he was GOC of the 10th Infantry Division and & Area Commander, Cox's Bazar Area.
The 11th Infantry Division is a formation of the Bangladesh Army based in Bogra Cantonment.
Md Mainur Rahman SUP, awc, psc is a major general in the Bangladesh Army& the GOC 24th Infantry Division and Area Commander of Chittagong Area. Before that, he was General officer commanding (GOC) of 33 Infantry division. Before serving as GOC of 33 Infantry Division, he was the Director of WE&S Directorate, Army Headquarters.
AKM Nazmul Hasan is a major general in the Bangladesh Army who is the incumbent director general of the Special Security Force. Prior to that he was DG of the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB). Prior to that position, he served as director general of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party. He also served as general officer commanding (GOC) of 11th Infantry Division and area commander, Bogura Area.
Md Moin Khan, ndc, psc is a major general of Bangladesh Army and incumbent general officer commanding (GOC) of the 9th Infantry Division and area commander of Savar Area. Earlier, he served as general officer commanding (GOC) and area commander, Logistics Area, Dhaka Cantonment. Before serving as GOC of Log area he was director of National Security Intelligence(NSI). Moin was commissioned in Bangladesh Army on 22 June 1990 with 22nd BMA Long Course. He is the current Colonel Commandant of Remount Veterinary and Farm Corps(RV&F).
