Mohammad Shaheenul Haque [a] [b] (Born: 6 January 1969) is a three-star general in the Bangladesh Army and the incumbent Commandant of National Defence College, Dhaka. Earlier, he was Chief of General Staff (CGS) at army headquarters. Before that, he was the Master-General of the Ordnance (MGO) at Army Headquarters (AHQ). Earlier he was GOC of 24th Infantry Division and 9th Infantry Division. [1] He was also the parade commander of the Victory Day Parade 2022.
Haque was selected at the ISSB for the 20th BMA Long Course and was commissioned in the Corps of Infantry in July 1989. He was awarded with the coveted 'Sword of Honour' for best all-round performance at his commission. [2]
He served as the platoon commander in Bangladesh Military Academy, Bhatiary. General Shaheen also served as Director of weapons, equipments & statistics directorate in army headquarters, General Staff Branch. Afterwards, he commanded the 18th BIR battalion and the 101st Infantry Brigade. [2] As a staff officer, General Shaheen worked as GSO-2 (Coord) in the GS Branch (Coord), Assistance Military Secretary in the Military Secretary Branch of Army Headquarter and the Colonel Staff of the 55th Infantry Division. [2]
Haque was appointed as the GOC of the 9th Infantry Division on 31 December 2019. [3] He had previously served as the commandant of the School of Infantry and Tactics. [4] He also served as the GOC of the 24th Infantry Division and as the Master-General of the Ordnance. [1]
He was promoted to Lieutenant General and become CGS at Army Headquarters on July 2024. However, after the fall of Sheikh Hasina, as part of a wider reshuffle, he was made Commandant of the National Defence College. [4]
