The human AMY1C gene encodes the protein Amylase, alpha 1C (salivary). [3]
Amylases are secreted proteins that hydrolyze 1,4-alpha-glucoside bonds in oligosaccharides and polysaccharides, and thus catalyze the first step in digestion of dietary starch and glycogen. The human genome has a cluster of several amylase genes that are expressed at high levels in either the salivary gland or pancreas. This gene encodes an amylase isoenzyme produced by the salivary gland. [4] See also Amylase § Evolution.
The salivary glands in many vertebrates including mammals are exocrine glands that produce saliva through a system of ducts. Humans have three paired major salivary glands, as well as hundreds of minor salivary glands. Salivary glands can be classified as serous, mucous, or seromucous (mixed).
α-Amylase is an enzyme that hydrolyses α bonds of large, α-linked polysaccharides, such as starch and glycogen, yielding shorter chains thereof, dextrins, and maltose:
Laminin subunit gamma-1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the LAMC1 gene.
Laminin subunit alpha-2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the LAMA2 gene.
Alpha-amylase 1 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the AMY1A gene. This gene is found in many organisms.
Pancreatic alpha-amylase is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the AMY2A gene.
Zinc finger protein PLAG1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PLAG1 gene.
Alpha-amylase 2B is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the AMY2B gene.
Basic salivary proline-rich protein 4 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PRB4 gene.
60S ribosomal protein L41 is a protein that is specific to humans and is encoded by the RPL41 gene, also known as HG12 and large eukaryotic ribosomal subunit protein eL41. The gene family HGNC is L ribosomal proteins. The protein itself is also described as P62945-RL41_HUMAN on the GeneCards database. This RPL41 gene is located on chromosome 12.
Basic salivary proline-rich protein 3 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PRB3 gene.
Laminin subunit gamma-3 also known as LAMC3 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the LAMC3 gene.

Dynein, axonemal, heavy chain 7 is a protein in humans that is encoded by the DNAH7 gene.
Polycystin 1 like 1, transient receptor potential channel interacting is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PKD1L1 gene.
Forkhead box S1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the FOXS1 gene.
Deoxyribonuclease 2 beta is a protein that in humans is encoded by the DNASE2B gene.
NFAT activating protein with ITAM motif 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NFAM1 gene.
Solute carrier family 22 member 14 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SLC22A14 gene.
Leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 74A (LRRC74A), is a protein encoded by the LRRC74A gene. The protein LRRC74A is localized in the cytoplasm. It has a calculated molecular weight of approximately 55 kDa. The LRRC74A protein is nominally expressed in the testis, salivary gland, and pancreas.
