AR Rahman Foundation is a non-profit organization registered under FCRA. [1] It was started in 2009 by Indian musician A R Rahman to raise funds for disaster relief and to provide education for poor children in India. [2] Khatija Rahman is the director of this foundation.

Naresh Iyer is an Indian playback singer. Born Mumbai, Iyer is fluent in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and Marathi. Naresh Iyer has rendered 2000 film songs in several Indian languages and has several chart hits to his credit. His rendition of "Roobaroo" from the movie Rang De Basanti composed by A. R. Madhushree is an Indian playback singer who sings in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Kannada and Telugu films. A familiar voice in A. R. Rahman's compositions, Madhushree hails from a musically inclined family, having previously been trained in classical and western styles music. Her father wanted her to be a classical singer, she joined the Rabindra Bharati University and completed her master's degree, but her desire was always to be a playback singer.

<i>Sangamam</i> 1999 Indian film

Sangamam (transl. Confluence) is a 1999 Indian Tamil-language musical romance dance film co written and directed by Suresh Krissna and produced by V. Natarajan of Pyramid Films. The film stars Rahman and newcomer Vindhya with Manivannan, Vijayakumar, Radharavi, and Vadivelu playing other important roles. The film's music was composed by A. R. Rahman, while Saravanan handled the cinematography. The film was released in 1999 but despite the award-winning soundtracks and rave reviews, the film became a financial failure. The Filmfare Best Music Director Award is given to film composers by the Filmfare magazine as part of its annual Filmfare Awards South for Tamil (Kollywood) films. A. R. Rahman is the most frequent winner with sixteen wins, which also includes nine consecutive wins between 1992 and 2000. Harris Jayaraj follows A. R. Rahman with five wins.

Lakshmi Narasimha Vijaya Rajagopala Sheshadri Sharma Rajesh Raman, professionally known as Blaaze, is an Indian Tamil language playback singer and rapper in Indian cinema who specializes in writing and performing rap music. An Indian by birth, born in Chennai, he grew up in Zambia and later did his education in England and in the US.

The soundtrack to the 2006 film Rang De Basanti was released by Sony Music Entertainment on 25 December 2005 and had its music composed by A. R. Rahman and lyrics in Hindi and English by Prasoon Joshi and rapper Blaaze. The title track was used at a flash mob at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai on 27 November 2011 in honour of those who died in the 26/11 attack.

<i>Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa</i> (soundtrack) 2010 soundtrack album by A. R. Rahman

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa is the soundtrack of the 2010 Tamil romance film of the same name, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. The soundtrack album and background score were composed by A. R. Rahman, collaborating with Menon for the first time. The lyrics for the songs were penned by Menon's usual associate, Thamarai along with Kalyani Menon and Kaithapram, the latter penning the Malayalam lyrics in the album. The album was released on 25 December 2009 in London with several film personalities participating at the grand function. It was the first time that a Tamil film audio release was held in London. It was followed by an audio launch function which was also held in Chennai on 6 January 2010. Sony Music released the album worldwide. The album opened to critical acclaim from music critics. The audio was marked as #1 in Asia, in terms of advance bookings. The album was ranked among the best musicals of 2010. A collector's edition of the film was released on 1 December 2010, which featured two unreleased tracks. The same soundtrack album was reused in the simultaneous Telugu version Ye Maaya Chesave (2010) and its Hindi remake Ekk Deewana Tha (2012).

Couples Retreat is the soundtrack to the 2009 American film of the same name, directed by Peter Billingsley and starring Vince Vaughn and Jason Bateman. The original score and songs are composed and produced by A. R. Rahman and recorded in the summer of 2009 with the Hollywood Studio Symphony at the Sony Scoring Stage. The film marks his Hollywood debut, though he has already worked for some English-language films including Slumdog Millionaire, which fetched him two Academy Awards.

Godfather is the soundtrack album of the 2012 Kannada drama film of the same name, directed by cinematographer-turned-director Sethu Sriram, starring actor Upendra in a triple role. The soundtrack album consists of eight songs composed by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, and lyrics penned by K. Kalyan, Devappa Hassan and Kaviraj. The background score of the film is composed by Rajesh Ramanath. Rahman retained most of the tracks from the original version, which also featured musical score by him. The audio was launched in a grand manner at Chancery Hotel, Bengaluru on 13 June 2012. The album received positive critical reception upon release.
