AZ or AZ Vrouwen is a women's association football club based in Alkmaar and the Zaanstreek, Netherlands. They are affiliated with the AZ men's team. They were founder members of the Eredivisie Vrouwen in 2007 and won the first three editions of the championship. In February 2011 AZ announced they were withdrawing support for their women's section, for financial reasons. [1]

Telstar entered a team in the 2011–12 women's Eredivisie and most of the AZ players signed for the newly formed club. [2]

In Januari 2022 AZ announced they were looking into restarting with a women's section. [3] Two months later AZ revealed they were going to financially support and were working closely with VV Alkmaar. [4] After AZ and VV Alkmaar already intensified their collaboration in 2022, AZ now takes the place of VV Alkmaar in the Azerion Women's Eredivisie starting from the 2023-2024 season. [5]

On 23 March 2023 Mark De Vries was confirmed as manager. [6] [7]

Mark Lyndon Patrick de Vries is a Dutch football coach and former player. During his playing career he played in Holland, England and Scotland and has since coached in the Faroe Islands and Hungary. After Cambuur, he started working as a coach.

The Vrouwen Eredivisie, also known as the Azerion Eredivisie Vrouwen due to a 3 year sponsor contract starting from the 2022–2023 season, is the highest women's football league in the Netherlands. Organized by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) it was established in 2007 as a professional league and played for five seasons until 2012 when the leagues of the Netherlands and Belgium merged forming a single combined league. The 2009–10 Eredivisie Vrouwen was the third season of the Netherlands women's professional football league. The league took place from 1 October 2009 to 19 May 2010 with six teams. AZ successfully defended the title and became champions for a third year running. The 60 matches of the season had a 22,140 total attendance.

SC Heerenveen Vrouwen is a Dutch women's football (soccer) club based in Heerenveen representing SC Heerenveen in the Vrouwen Eredivisie, the top women's league in the Netherlands.

PEC Zwolle Vrouwen is a Dutch women's football team from Zwolle. The team was founded in 2010, starting in the Eredivisie season 2010–11. The club was the first two seasons working together with Be Quick '28. Currently they are working together with SV Zwolle who is playing in the Hoofdklasse.
