A Different Stage is the debut studio album by English comedian and actor Jason Manford. The album was released on 6 October 2017 by Decca Records. It features some of Manford's favourite show tunes.
Manford has stated that before becoming a comedian he had believed he would follow a career in music: "I've been singing since I was a boy, I always thought I’d probably be a singer rather than a stand-up, but that’s just the way it happened". [2] He made his West End debut as Italian barber Adolfo Pirelli in the musical Sweeney Todd in 2012. He has also appeared as Leo Bloom in The Producers (2014), and Caractacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (2016), a role which won him very favourable reviews. [3] His decision to record an album of show tunes came after a version of him performing "Stars" from the musical Les Miserables alongside actor and singer Alfie Boe was uploaded to YouTube, where it proved to be popular, and after fans left messages on Manford's Facebook page urging him to record an album. Manford has also cited his grandmother as an encouraging force. [4]
It was announced in July 2017 that Manford would be releasing an album of show tunes inspired by his stage career, and that the album would be released in October. [3] The album was released on 6 October. [4] As part of the album's launch, Manford attended a signing event at HMV in Manchester's Arndale Centre. [2] Manford also recorded a video of him playing the album to his grandmother, which was posted on his Facebook page. The album is also dedicated to his paternal grandparents: "who every Sunday at their house would play so many old songs and tunes from musicals that they became ingrained in my own musical taste to this day". [5]
In September, Manford entertained staff and residents at a Manchester care home with songs from the album after a member of staff contacted him to ask him to visit. [6] He also performed tracks from the album for a charity event at the city's Hilton Hotel. [7] Upon the release of A Different Stage, Manford announced plans for a music tour in 2018, consisting of "a handful of gigs of me with an orchestra going through songs on the album". [8]
During recording of the album, Manford travelled to Prague to record with the Prague Symphony Orchestra. [9]

Take That are an English pop group formed in Manchester in 1990. The group currently consists of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen. The original line-up also featured Jason Orange and Robbie Williams. Barlow is the group's lead singer and primary songwriter, with Owen and Williams initially providing backing vocals and Donald and Orange serving primarily as dancers.
Busted are an English pop punk band from Southend-on-Sea, Essex, consisting of James Bourne, Matt Willis and Charlie Simpson. Formed in 2000, the band had four UK number-one singles, won two Brit awards, released four studio albums and sold over 5 million records. The band released Busted in 2002 and A Present for Everyone in 2003 before disbanding in January 2005. Following the split, all three members pursued separate musical careers: Simpson as the frontman for the post-hardcore band Fightstar, Bourne as the lead singer of pop punk band Son of Dork and Willis as a solo artist. The band reunited in 2016 and have stayed together since.
Richard Timothy Smith, known professionally as Richard O'Brien, is a British-New Zealand writer, actor, musician, and television presenter. He wrote the musical stage show The Rocky Horror Show in 1973, which has remained in continuous production. He also co-wrote the screenplay of the film adaptation, The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), also appearing in the film as Riff Raff. The film became an international success and has received a large cult following. O'Brien co-wrote the musical Shock Treatment (1981) and appeared in the film as Dr. Cosmo McKinley.
Michael Ashley Ball is an English singer, presenter and actor. He made his West End debut in 1985 playing Marius Pontmercy in the original London production of Les Misérables, and went on to star in 1987 as Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera. In 1989, he reached number two in the UK Singles Chart with "Love Changes Everything", a song taken from the musical Aspects of Love, where he played Alex. He played the role in London and on Broadway. His album Coming Home To You reached number one in the UK making it his 4th number one album to date. On 24 April 2020, Ball and Captain Tom Moore entered the UK Singles Chart at number one with a cover of "You'll Never Walk Alone", with combined chart sales of 82,000 making it the fastest-selling single of 2020.
Elbow are an English rock band formed in Bury, Greater Manchester, in 1997. The band consists of Guy Garvey, Craig Potter, Mark Potter and Pete Turner. They have played together since 1990, adopting the name Elbow in 1997. Drummer Alex Reeves replaced Richard Jupp in 2016.

The Manchester International Festival is a biennial international arts festival, with a specific focus on original new work, held in the English city of Manchester. The show premiered at the London Palladium on April 16, 2002, directed by Adrian Noble before opening on Broadway in 2005.
"Hushabye Mountain" is a ballad by the songwriting team Robert and Richard Sherman. It appears twice in the 1968 Albert R. Broccoli motion picture Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: first as an idyllic lullaby by Caractacus Potts to his children; and later when the children of Vulgaria have lost all hope of salvation. The song is also featured prominently in the 2002 and 2005 stage musical versions.

Thomas Anthony Parker was an English singer, widely known as a member of the boy band the Wanted. In 2013, Parker appeared with his bandmates in the E! channel reality television series The Wanted Life. After the band's hiatus in 2014, he embarked on a solo career.

"By the Grace of God" is a song by American singer Katy Perry from her fourth studio album, Prism (2013), included as the standard edition's final track. The song was written and produced by Perry and Canadian record producer Greg Wells. It was conceived following Perry's divorce from English actor and comedian Russell Brand. This initially made Perry consider making a "darker" album, but instead was channeled into the song.
