Ned Raggett of AllMusic says, "Babyland continue the same perfect bland of aggro-electronics, personal/political punk lyrical delivery" and "the few changes there are turn up as understated rather than obvious, especially a continued embrace of careful additional touches to flesh out the songs." [1] Alternative Press also lauded the album, saying "the band literally hit the nail on the head of all the confusion, resentment, anger, and frustration felt by an entire generation." [2]

Babyland was an American performance-based independent electronic junk punk band from Los Angeles, California, featuring Dan Gatto performing vocals and electronics and Michael Smith on percussion. The band released six studio albums before disbanding in 2009: You Suck Crap (1992), A Total Letdown (1994), Who's Sorry Now (1995), Outlive Your Enemies (1998), The Finger (2004), Cavecraft (2008).
Dan Gatto is an American musician best recognized as the vocalist for synth punk band Babyland. He also collaborated with Vampire Rodents composer Daniel Vahnke on a project called Recliner. After Babyland dissolved in 2009, Gatto founded Continues as an outlet for his solo work.
Mudhoney is the debut studio album by American rock band Mudhoney, released in 1989. It was their first LP after several singles and two EPs.
"Dare You to Move" is a single by American alternative rock band Switchfoot from their fourth studio album, The Beautiful Letdown (2003). The song was originally called "I Dare You to Move", and was on the album Learning to Breathe, but the band decided to reimagine it and put it on The Beautiful Letdown. This track received considerable radio airplay, and its accompanying music videos saw play on MTV, VH1, FUSE TV, and other mainstream channels. "Dare You to Move" was released to Christian radio on February 6, 2004, and sent to modern rock radio the following month. The First Session is an EP by American alternative rock band Hole, released on August 26, 1997, on Sympathy for the Record Industry. The EP features the entire recording of the band's first studio session on March 17, 1990, and also a twenty-page booklet focusing on the band's early career prior to the release of their debut studio album, Pretty on the Inside (1991). The EP marked Hole's final release on Sympathy for the Record Industry.

According to band member Kim Gordon, the song is about "using passiveness as a form of rebellion."
