Aaliyah Butler (born November 5, 2003) is an American sprinter. [1]
Butler is from Fort Lauderdale in Broward County, Florida. [2] She attended Piper High School and Miami Northwestern Senior High School. [3] [4] She began to attend the University of Georgia in 2022. [5]
In 2019, she beat the Florida high school state record set in the 400 meters by Sanya Richards-Ross. [6]
Butler finished fourth in the 400 meters at the NCAA Division 1 Indoor Championships in Boston, Massachusetts in March 2024. [7] She ran a personal best 49.79 seconds for the 400 meters at the SEC Championships in Gainesville, Florida in May 2024. [8]
In June 2024, she finished second at the United States Olympic trials 400m race in Eugene, Oregon, running 49.71 seconds. [9]

She is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic champion with the Games record, and 2022 World champion with a world record time of 50.68 seconds. Setting four world records during 13 months, she was the first woman to break the 52-second and 51-second barriers in the 400 m hurdles. She won the silver medal at the 2019 World Championships.
