Aaron Simpson (born 6 January 1972) is a British businessman, entrepreneur and former film producer. He is the co-founder and executive chairman of Quintessentially Group, an international members-only lifestyle management company and concierge group. [3] [4] Simpson is also a founding trustee of the Quintessentially Foundation. [5] A former film producer, Simpson has worked with Scala Films, Rocket Pictures and he founded his own company, Flashlight Films. [6]

Early life and education

Simpson was born in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, England, the son of teacher and shoe manufacturer. [7] Simpson was educated at Oxford University. He studied geography and achieved a 2:1. He was elected Steward at St Edmund Hall. He founded the Oxford and Cambridge Shakespearian Festivals producing over 300 plays in those university towns.

Career

Early career

Simpson worked in film production as an assistant photocopier for Steven Woolley's Scala Films, the production company behind Interview with the Vampire and the Oscar-winning The Crying Game . After a year with the production company, Simpson was promoted to head of development. [7] Later, Simpson began working as a producer at Elton John's Rocket Pictures before starting his own production company, Flashlight Films. [1] [7] [8]

Quintessentially

Simpson co-founded Quintessentially Group in 2000 with Ben Elliot and Paul Drummond. [3] [9] [10] Simpson serves as the group executive chairman. Simpson and Drummond met at Oxford and started the company with Elliot as a small, London-based concierge service. [1] [11] Since then, Quintessentially Group has expanded to 78 countries [2] with over 1,500 employees and 33 sister businesses. [12] In 2017, Simpson began work on the "world's biggest superyacht", the Quintessentially One, backed by five billionaire investors. The 722-foot yacht is scheduled to launch in 2019. [13] [14]

Other activities

In 2014, Simpson started an online investment platform with David Mickler and Lex Deak called Q Ventures, which has raised over £50m in capital for new ventures. [15]

Personal life

Simpson is married and has two daughters. [16] He and his family live between London and Ibiza, Spain. [1] [17]

M/Y Eclipse is a superyacht built by Blohm+Voss of Hamburg, Germany, the third longest afloat. Her exterior and interior were designed by Terence Disdale. The yacht is owned by Roman Abramovich, and was delivered on 9 December 2010. At 162.5 metres long Eclipse was the world's longest private yacht until the Azzam was launched in April 2013, which is 17.3 metres longer. The yacht's cost has been estimated at €340 million.

<i>Nahlin</i> (yacht) British luxury yacht

Nahlin is a luxury yacht and one of the last of three large steam yachts constructed in the UK. She was built for Lady Yule, film financier and horse breeder, and was launched in 1930. She is owned by British industrial entrepreneur Sir James Dyson, who purchased her from Lord Bamford, Chairman of JCB. The name Nahlin is taken from a Native American word meaning "fleet of foot" and the yacht has a figurehead depicting a Native American wearing a feathered headdress beneath the bowsprit.

Motor Yacht A is a superyacht designed by Philippe Starck and engineered by naval architect Martin Francis. It was built by the Blohm + Voss shipyard at the HDW deepwater facility in Kiel. It was ordered in November 2004, and delivered in 2008 at a rumoured cost of US$300 million. With a length of 119 metres (390 ft) and measuring almost 6,000 tonnes, it is one of the largest motor yachts in the world. It is owned by Russian entrepreneur and industrialist Andrey Melnichenko.

Kismet is a 95.2-metre -long superyacht which was built by Lürssen in 2014. It is managed by the Moran Yacht & Ship chartering business, and is owned by Pakistani-American billionaire Shahid Khan.

<i>Andromeda</i> (2015 yacht)

Andromeda is a 107.39-meter luxury expedition yacht constructed for the New Zealand billionaire Graeme Hart. Launched in 2015 and completed in 2016, the vessel was initially named Ulyssess by Hart. The vessel was reportedly sold in 2017 to Yuri Milner and renamed Andromeda.

<i>Dilbar</i> (yacht) Super-yacht

Dilbar is a super-yacht launched on 14 November 2015 at the German Lürssen shipyard and delivered in 2016. She was built as Project Omar. The interior design of Dilbar was designed by Andrew Winch and the exterior by Espen Oeino.

Quintessentially One is a 220-meter superyacht being built by the concierge firm Quintessentially, at a cost of about the €250 million.
