The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour commonly known as the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam (ADGS) is a series of international Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournaments (Gi and No-gi), taking place every year, organised by the United Arab Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) and the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP) as part of the AJP competition circuit. The events take place in a number of cities around the world. [2]

History

The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Tour (ADGS) was created by the United Arab Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) in 2015 with the goal of "developing and promoting jiu-jitsu around the world". [3] The ADGS is part of the Abu Dhabi Jiu Jitsu Pro (AJP) Competition Circuit, which represents 78 international events in each season. [4]

The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam features a series of high-level tournaments open to the world's elite male and female Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitors in the categories of juniors, professionals and masters with cash prizes awarded for the top athletes of each division. Those events, known as Grand Slams, take place each seasons in various host cities. [2]

Abu Dhabi Grand Slam 2015–2016

For its first season, the UAEJJF implemented 4 grand slam tournaments in four countries (Japan, England, USA and Brazil). Black belt prize money for each Grand Slam was US$49,000 with an additional $7000 submission bonuses spread through the divisions. [5]

She is the current roosterweight World Champion, World No-Gi Champion, Pan American Champion and the light-featherweight European Champion.

Gabrielle McComb Lima, also known as Gabi McComb, is a Brazilian submission grappler and black belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor. McComb is a multiple times World and Pan-American champion, in both Gi and No-Gi. She is the 2021 Black Belt Featherweight World Champion.

Rikako Yuasa; born 12 April 1991) is a submission grappler and Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) black belt competitor. Regarded by some as one of the greatest Japanese BJJ fighters, Yuasa is a World, European and Asian champion in coloured belt and a four times black belt World champion.

Tainan Dalpra Costa is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt competitor. A winner of every major tournaments as a colored belt, Dalpra is a two-time World, Pan American, and European champion. Dalpra is ranked No. 1 in the middleweight 2022-2023 IBJJF Gi Ranking.

Samantha Cook is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt competitor. Cook is a No-Gi World champion, a four-time European champion and a four-time British champion in coloured belts. The first British female to win the ADCC Trials in the black belt division, she is a multiple time World Medalist and the 2019 European Champion in both Gi and No-Gi.

A highly decorated athlete competing since childhood, often against older opponents, Galvão was promoted to black belt in 2021, at the record age of 17, less than 3 years after reaching blue belt. Lucas Daniel Silva Barbosa, commonly known as Lucas 'Hulk' Barbosa, is a Brazilian mixed martial artist (MMA), submission grappler and Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) black belt competitor.

Rose El Sharouni is a Dutch born Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner and competitor. A two-time World championship and three-time IBJJF European Championship medallist, El Sharouni is a two-time AJP Abu Dhabi World Pro silver medallist.

Ana Carolina Vieira is a Brazilian grappler and Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner and competitor. A multiple-time World and Brazilian champion in the lower belts divisions, Vieira is a five-time black belt IBJJF World champion, two-time IBJJF Pan Champion, two-time Abu Dhabi World Pro Champion and European champion. She is the founder of Aviv jiu-jitsu.
