Academia Cotopaxi (Academia Cotopaxi American International School) is an English-based, independent, non-profit, international school in Quito, Ecuador.

Alice Conger was the first director of the school. This school maintains a majority of international students, who are the children of the diplomatic missions to Ecuador and children of employees of major international corporations, as well as local students.

History

Classes were first located in a building called the Ecuadorian-American Center, which no longer exists, located on Avenida 6 de Diciembre. Cotopaxi's educational experience was well underway: the first curriculum was derived from the Calvert Correspondence System combined with courses from the University of Nebraska.

Between the years of 1959 through 1960, the school established their first campus in a large house on the corner of Avenida de Los Estadios and República de El Salvador

As an American International School in Ecuador it focuses on a diverse international faculty [1]

Academia Cotopaxi became the first school to offer the IB diploma [2] in Ecuador (1981), joined several organizations, gained accreditation from regional US agencies, adopted the IB Primary Years Program, and grew their education model to include the ONE Institute language center and the IMAGINE preschool programs

He was a professor at Universidad Central del Ecuador and Universidad Católica, as well as a founding professor of Universidad San Francisco de Quito, where he was Dean of the College of Communication and Contemporary Arts.

Jennifer Stephanie Pazmiño Saldaña is an Ecuadorian-American TV host, radio host, model and beauty pageant titleholder who placed as the second runner-up at Miss Ecuador 2008, representing Guayaquil. As the second runner-up Pazmiño was crowned Miss Ecuador International 2008. She represented Ecuador at Miss International 2008, where she placed Top 12. Two years later Pazmiño was appointed and crowned as Miss Earth Ecuador 2010 by Jose Hidalgo her National Director. Pazmiño represented Ecuador at Miss Earth 2010 she became the first delegate from Ecuador to win the title Miss Earth-Air elemental crown.

<i>Qué tan lejos</i> 2006 Ecuadorian film

Qué tan lejos is a 2006 film directed by Ecuadorian filmmaker Tania Hermida. The film is a road movie co-produced by Ecuador and Spain, and it stars Tania Martinez and Cecilia Vallejo as an Ecuadorian student and a Spanish tourist, respectively, that met each other in a bus and take rides together when the roads are blocked because of a strike. Hermida had the plot idea in 1997 but only started to produce the film in 2003. Filming was entirely done in Ecuador during 2005, while post-production finished in 2006.
