Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN is an educational simulation where students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. At a MUN conference, students work as the representative of a country, organization or person and must solve a problem with other delegates from around the world. MUN teaches participants research, speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities. Usually an extracurricular activity, some schools also offer Model UN as a class. It is meant to engage students and allow them to develop deeper understanding into current world issues.

The U.S. was where Model UN originated and was popularized, and is also where many of the world's most respected conferences are held. The U.S. has several regional centers of Model UN, each with its own distinct style.
