Addison West (born December 5, 2000) is an American football offensive guard for the Western Michigan Broncos.
West was born on December 5, 2000, and grew up in Cary, Illinois. [1] He attended Cary-Grove High School where he played football and basketball. [1] An offensive lineman and defensive lineman in football, [2] he became a starter as a sophomore and helped the team reach the playoffs in his last two years. [3] He helped them win the 2018 6A state championship and was a two-time all-state, all-area and all-conference performer. [1] West set a school record in 2018 for most pancake blocks, with 48. [4] He committed to play college football for the Western Michigan Broncos. [3]
West redshirted and appeared in one game for Western Michigan in 2019. [1] He then saw no action in 2020, and appeared in seven games, mainly on special teams, in 2021. [1] He became a full-time starter in 2022. [4] He started all 12 games in 2022, all 12 games in 2023, and all 13 games in 2024. [4] As a senior in 2024, he allowed no sacks and was ranked the best offensive guard in the nation by Pro Football Focus (PFF). [5] He was named first-team Mid-American Conference (MAC) following the 2024 season. [4] He was also named a first-team All-American, becoming the fourth All-American in school history and the first first-team selection, and later became a Consensus All-American. [4]
William Lewis Shaw was an American professional football player who was a guard for the Buffalo Bills in the American Football League (AFL). After playing college football for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, he was selected by the Bills in the second round of the 1961 AFL draft. Shaw was the prototypical "pulling guard" who despite his size held his own against much bigger defensive linemen like Ernie Ladd, Earl Faison and Buck Buchanan. He won three straight Eastern Division titles and two AFL championships in 1964 and 1965 with Buffalo.
Logan Lee Mankins is an American former professional football player who was a guard for 11 seasons in the National Football League (NFL), primarily with the New England Patriots. After playing college football for the Fresno State Bulldogs, he was selected by the Patriots in the first round of the 2005 NFL draft. He spent his final two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Selected to seven Pro Bowls and named a first-team All-Pro twice, Mankins was considered a premier guard in his 11 seasons in NFL, and was also named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.
