An adventure playground is a specific type of playground for children. Adventure playgrounds can take many forms, ranging from "natural playgrounds" to "junk playgrounds", and are typically defined by an ethos of unrestricted play, the presence of playworkers, and the absence of adult-manufactured or rigid play-structures. Adventure playgrounds are frequently defined in contrast to playing fields, contemporary-design playgrounds made by adult architects, and traditional-equipment play areas containing adult-made rigid play-structures like swings, slides, seesaws, and climbing bars.

Pasig Rainforest Park, also known as Pasig City Rainforest Adventure Experience and Pasig Central Park, is a public park in Pasig, eastern Metro Manila, Philippines. It spans 8 hectares, and is a mixed recreational and natural park with a mini-zoo. The rainforest park was opened to the public in 1977 with an initial area of 4.8 hectares. It had an Olympic-sized swimming pool, jogging oval, children's playground, tennis courts and a fitness center. In 1996, the park was enlarged with the acquisition of an additional 2.1 hectares. The park was relaunched as the Rainforest Adventure Experience (RAVE) in 2013 with the completion of the boating lagoon, zip line, obstacle course and a skatepark.
Huntington Beach Adventure Playground is an adventure playground located within Huntington Beach Central Park in Huntington Beach, California. The first adventure playground in Huntington Beach was established in the 1970s at the bottom of a quarry pit not far from the playground's present site. The original playground included a small shack, office, snack bar, and tool shed. After a number of years in its original location, and a temporary interim nearby due to flooding, the adventure playground was relocated to its present location in 1983. The adventure playground consists of several acres with a shallow pond, treehouses, a "mud park", rafts, rope climbing features, loose parts and scrap wood, and tools.

It is one of the few junk playgrounds located in the United States, and the only one located in a school. The playground serves children with communication disorders and language and learning differences, often including difficulties interacting with peers.

The Yard was the first adventure playground established in the United States. It was opened in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1949, to give children "their own spot of earth and plenty of tools and materials for digging, building and creating as they see fit."
