The African Women's Junior Handball Championship is the official competition for junior women's national handball teams of Africa, organized by the African Handball Confederation, under the supervision of the International Handball Federation and takes place every two years. In addition to crowning the African champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the Women's World Junior Championship.

The Africa Women's Handball Championship for Clubs Champions is an annual international women's handball club competition run by the African Handball Confederation. The top club sides from Africa's women's handball leagues are invited to participate in this competition.
The 2012 African Handball Cup Winners' Cup was the 28th edition, organized by the African Handball Confederation, under the auspices of the International Handball Federation, the handball sport governing body. The tournament was held from April 19–30, 2012 at the Salle El-Menzah in Tunis, Tunisia, contested by 13 teams and won by Étoile Sportive du Sahel of Tunisia.

The tournament was held from April 18–27, 2013 in Hammamet, Tunisia, contested by 9 teams and won by Atlético Petróleos de Luanda of Angola.
The 2013 African Women's Youth Handball Championship was the 8th edition of the African Women's Youth Handball Championship. The event, organized by the African Handball Confederation, under the supervision of the International Handball Federation, took place in the Republic of the Congo, in one host city, Oyo, from August 24 to 30. Seven teams participated on the tournament. Angola, the defending champion, retained its title, by beating Tunisia 29-18 in the final.

Seven teams participated on the tournament. Angola, dethroned defending champion Congo thus securing its 7th title.

Top three teams i.e. Angola, Egypt and the hosts Ivory Coast qualified for the 2018 Women's Junior World Handball Championship to be held in Hungary.

Top three teams i.e. Egypt, Tunisia and Angola qualifies for the 2018 Women's Youth World Handball Championship to be held in Poland.

It acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2023 World Men's Handball Championship in Poland and Sweden. Originally it was scheduled to be held in Morocco from 13 to 23 January 2022.

It acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2025 World Men's Handball Championship, with the top five nations qualifying. It also acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, with the champions qualifying.
