Afrohercostomus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. Many of the species were formerly from " Hercostomus Group I" (or the "Hercostomus" straeleni group), one of three groups of Afrotropical Hercostomus species created by Igor Grichanov in 1999. [2]
Hercostomus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It is a large genus, containing more than 483 species worldwide.
Argyrochlamys is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It is known from the Afrotropics, the Oriental realm, and the southernmost part of the Palearctic realm.
Dactylonotus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. Six of the species in the genus are found in southern Africa, though one species, Dactylonotus formosus, is found in New Zealand.
Lichtwardtia is a genus of fly in the family Dolichopodidae. It is considered to be a synonym of Dolichopus by Scott E. Brooks (2005), but not by other authors. Before this, it was considered a possible subgenus of Pterostylus by Oleg Negrobov (1979).
Sybistroma is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It includes over 50 species, described mainly from the Palaearctic and Oriental realms. A single species is known from the Afrotropical realm. Until 2005, the genus was thought to be restricted to the Mediterranean in distribution, with five known species. It was recently expanded to include the former genera Hypophyllus, Ludovicius and Nordicornis, as well as some species of Hercostomus.
Syntormon is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae.
Tenuopus is a genus of fly in the family Dolichopodidae. It is the only genus in the subfamily Tenuopodinae, which was created by Igor Grichanov in 2018. The genus was previously placed in the subfamily Neurigoninae, and it also shares some features of Peloropeodinae and Sciapodinae. All species are known from the Afrotropical realm.
Dolichopodinae is a subfamily of flies in the family Dolichopodidae.
Afropelastoneurus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It includes five species from Africa formerly placed in Paracleius or Pelastoneurus.
Afroparaclius is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It includes two species from Africa formerly placed in Paracleius.
Apelastoneurus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It includes 47 species from Africa formerly placed in Paracleius or Pelastoneurus.
Poecilobothrus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae.
Pseudargyrochlamys is a genus of fly in the family Dolichopodidae. It was established by Igor Grichanov in 2006, for four species of Paracleius from South Africa. A fifth species was described in 2020.
Pseudoparaclius is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It was established by Igor Grichanov in 2006, for 14 species from Africa that were originally placed in Paracleius. Two additional species were described in 2015 and 2020.
Setihercostomus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae, known from China, Taiwan, Russia and Tanzania.
Syntormon pallipes is a species of fly in the family Dolichopodidae. It is found in the Palearctic, Oriental and Afrotropical realms. In 2019, the mitochondrial genome of S. pallipes was sequenced, as the first representative of the subfamily Sympycninae.
Neohercostomus is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. Many of the species were formerly from "Hercostomus Group III", one of three groups of Afrotropical Hercostomus species created by Igor Grichanov in 1999.
Subhercostomus is a subgenus of Neohercostomus, a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. The type species, N. turneri, was formerly from "Hercostomus Group III", one of three groups of Afrotropical Hercostomus species created by Igor Grichanov in 1999.
