Agriphoneura is a genus of small flies of the family Lauxaniidae. [1] It contains only one species, Agriphoneura fumipennis.
Cissa is a genus of relatively short-tailed magpies, sometimes known as hunting cissas, that reside in the forests of tropical and subtropical southeast Asia and adjacent regions. The four species are quite similar with bright red bills, a mainly green plumage, black mask, and rufous wings. Due to excess exposure to sunlight, they often appear rather turquoise in captivity. They are carnivorous, and mainly feed on arthropods and small vertebrates.

Johann Christoph Friedrich Klug, was a German entomologist. He described the butterflies and some other insects of Upper Egypt and Arabia in Christian Gottfried Ehrenberg and Wilhelm Friedrich Hemprich's Symbolæ Physicæ. He was professor of medicine and entomology in the University of Berlin where he curated the insect collections from 1810 to 1856. At the same time he directed the Botanic Garden in Berlin which contains his collections. Klug worked mainly on Hymenoptera and Coleoptera. The plant genus Klugia was named in his honour as well as the butterflies Geitoneura klugii and Heliophisma klugii.

The Lauxaniidae are a family of acalyptrate flies. They generally are small flies with large compound eyes that often are brightly coloured in life, sometimes with characteristic horizontal stripes, such as in Cestrotus species. Many species have variegated patterns on their wings, but in contrast they generally do not have variegated bodies, except for genera such as Cestrotus, whose camouflage mimics lichens or the texture of granitic rocks.

The Pyrgotidae are an unusual family of flies (Diptera), one of only two families of Cyclorrhapha that lack ocelli. Most species are "picture-winged", as is typical among the Tephritoidea, but unlike other tephritoids, they are endoparasitoids; the females pursue scarab beetles in flight, laying an egg on the beetle's back under the elytra where the beetle cannot reach it. The egg hatches and the fly larva enters the body cavity of the beetle, feeding and eventually killing the host before pupating. In the United States, some species of Pyrgota and Sphecomyiella can be quite common in areas where their host beetles are abundant. Like their host beetles, these flies are primarily nocturnal, and are often attracted to artificial lights.
Acartophthalmus is a genus of flies, and the only genus with confident placement in the family Acartophthalmidae. They are 1.0–2.5 millimetres (0.04–0.10 in) long, and grey or black in colour, with pubescent arista. Only five species are included.

He was well known in the mycological community for two taxonomic publications co-authored with his colleague J.A. von Arx: Die Gattungen der amerosporen Pyrenomyceten and Die Gattungen der didymosporen Pyrenomyceten.
