Aidan Murphy (born 14 October 2003) is an Australian sprinter who has represented Australia internationally over 200 metres and in the 4 x 400 metres relay, and won the gold medal over 200m at the 2022 Oceania Athletics Championships, and the silver medal in the 200m at the 2024 Oceania Athletics Championships. Career

Murphy runs for the Saints Athletics Club in South Australia. He broke two National U20 Records and four State Records in 2022 and won both the Oceania and Australian Open Men's 200 metres titles. [2] Selected for the 2022 World Athletics Championships Murphy made his major event debut in the 200 meters. [3] He also competed in the 200 metres at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest in 2023. [4]

He finished runner-up to Gout Gout in the 200 metres race at the 2025 Australian Athletics Championships on 13 April 2025, running a wind assisted lifetime best time of 20.40 seconds (+2.2). [5] In May 2025, he helped qualify the Australia men's 4 × 400 m relay team for the 2025 World Championships in the second round of qualifying at the 2025 World Athletics Relays in China. [6] He was selected for the 2025 Summer World University Games in Germany. [7]

Personal life

Murphy is the son of former Australian athlete Tania Van Heer. [8] [9]
