The FISU World University Games, formerly the Universiade, is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The former name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad".
The 1998 Asian Games, officially known as the 13th Asian Games and the XIII Asiad, was an Asian multi-sport event celebrated in Bangkok, Thailand from December 6 to 20, 1998, with 377 events in 36 sports and disciplines participated by 6,554 athletes across the continent. The 2021 Summer World University Games, officially known as the XXXI Summer World University Games and also known as Chengdu 2021, was a multi-sport event sanctioned by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), held from 28 July to 8 August 2023 primarily in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. It was the fourth edition of the Games hosted by China. This is also the first edition to be referred to as the "Summer World University Games" rather than the "Summer Universiade." The games marked the 15th anniversary of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.

The 2023 FISU Summer World University Games (Universiade), officially known as the 2023 Summer Universiade or the XXXII Summer World University Games, and commonly known as Yekaterinburg 2023 or Ekaterinburg 2023, was planned to be the 32nd edition of the event, which was to be held from 19 to 31 July 2023 in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
The 2025 South Asian Games, officially the XIV South Asian Games, will be a major multi-sport event which will be held in Pakistan, and will have Lahore, the capital of Punjab province as main host city. The cities of Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Islamabad and Sialkot will give support to Lahore hosting some sports. The Games were scheduled to be held in March 2023, but later postponed to March 2024 by SAOC members at the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) conference in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This will mark the third time that Pakistan has hosted the South Asian Games since 1989 and 2004, and the first time that Pakistan has hosted the event outside of Islamabad.
The 2020 European University Games would have been the 5th biannual European Universities Games (EUG). It was scheduled to be held in Belgrade, Serbia from 12 July to 26 July. However, this event was postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic on 27 March 2020. The new dates proposed for the competition were from 14 July to 27 July 2021. On 5 May 2021 EUSA announced the games not being held. The event was planned involve 21 different sporting disciplines in the sports programme. It would have been organised by the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and University Sports Federation of Serbia with the special cooperation alongside University of Belgrade.
The 2026 Summer Youth Olympics, officially known as the IV Summer Youth Olympic Games and commonly known as Dakar 2026, will be the fourth edition of the Summer Youth Olympics, an international sports, education and cultural festival for teenagers, in a city designated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Originally scheduled to be held for 18 days in Dakar, Senegal, from 22 October to 9 November 2022, it is now scheduled to be held there for 13 days—from 31 October to 13 November 2026, becoming the first IOC event to be held in Africa.
The 14th National Games of China (中华人民共和国第十四届运动会), commonly known as Shaanxi 2021 (陕西2021), was a multi-sports event held throughout Shaanxi from September 15 to 27, 2021. It is projected that the Games attracted around 20,000 athletes who competed in 409 events in 35 sports. This was the first event in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2027 FISU Summer World University Games, known also as the XXXIII Summer World University Games, or the 33rd Summer Universiade, and commonly known as Chungcheong 2027, is a multi-sport event scheduled from 1 to 12 August 2027 in Chungcheong Province, South Korea. The province was confirmed as the host city for the games on 12 November 2022. This will be the fourth time in the history that the event will be held in South Korea after being held for the third time after the most recent 2015 Summer Universiade held in Gwangju.
