Giovanni Giorgio Moroder is an Italian composer and music producer. Dubbed the "Father of Disco", Moroder is credited with pioneering euro disco and electronic dance music. His work with synthesizers had a large influence on several music genres such as hi-NRG, Italo disco, synth-pop, new wave, house and techno music.

Work on the album began in July 2006, following Minogue's gradual recovery from breast cancer. After finishing Showgirl: The Homecoming Tour in early 2007, she returned to the studio to complete the album, with the help from many producers including Bloodshy & Avant, Calvin Harris, Greg Kurstin, and Freemasons.

The Kiss Me Once Tour was the fourteenth concert tour by Australian singer Kylie Minogue. It was launched in support of her twelfth studio album, Kiss Me Once (2014) and visited Europe, Australia and Middle East. Rumours of plans to tour arose as early as July 2013, after Minogue signed to Roc Nation. The tour was officially announced in March 2014, with the first European dates revealed. Australian dates were announced in June of the same year. The staging, inspired by Bauhaus architecture and club settings, was considered less elaborate and more simple than her previous tours and featured a runway, a B-stage and a series of structural beams. Costumes for the tour were created by fashion designers Jean Paul Gaultier, Julien Macdonald, William Wilde, Marchesa and Dolce & Gabbana. Effects were provided by ER Productions.

Rosalía enlisted producers Noah Goldstein, Michael Uzowuru, Dylan Wiggins and Pharrell Williams as well as longtime colleague el Guincho to create a concept album about her feelings during the past three years, including troubled times with fame, homesickness and isolation in the form of a collage of the singer's musical influences, especially in Latin music. Separated in two parts, it features guest vocals from the Weeknd and Tokischa, and is presented as Rosalía's "most personal and confessional album so far."
